I remember reading somewhere, an interview with one of the American cam guys, maybe Isky? One of the things he talked about with the development of roller rockers was the problems that they had with the cams pushing out the front or the backs of the blocks and wearing everything out really quickly. They had to go do great lengths to ensure that everything was square and also to ensure that the cam was well retained. I can't remember the details, I'll have to see if I can hunt down the article again.

Doesn't look like a difficult fix if you're about to do some fab work.

Sweet! Loving the fact that this is creating some Constructive discussions with the members, unlike so many other sites...

Anyway, yep, i finish cleaning + prepping the block tomorrow, so then i will start to Draw up the roller lifters and get them made, as well as get orrganised with what ever block modifactions.

Once thats done, i then have to send it up to Tighe and get them to make a billet cam. We're still discussing the specs, but for that high an RPM, we're looking at some slight modification / mix + matching the high end cam specs for the inlet and Exhaust to see if we can better suit the Turbo.

Anyway, once drawings are done i'll post some photos up.

Also looking at anther shell to put this all into, but not too sure if that will come off or not... Possibly more info later.

OMG, Its Christmas time.

OK, interesting fact, 3k conrods = 112mm, not the 120mm i was working off. And, my 4AGE rods are 122mm, exactly 10mm longer.

Suzuki GSXR1100 pistons compression height difference = EXACTLY 10mm. Therefore, in your 3k, you can pull out the old, replace with this set-up and not have to touch the block at all.

I measure the standard set-up with all kit up at around 935grams for the rod + piston assembly. I measured my set-up (with no rings and the wrong pin) at 650Grams. the 4AGE H beam rods are significantly heavier, but the GSXR pistons are considereably lighter + smaller.

This is a cool developement, but I'm a little worried now that the combustion chambers in the head might be too small, anyway, we can worry about this later, i have spare head housings everything can be transferred across, although it would make alot more work.

The second photo shows the size difference a little better...

Probably not overkill if you're seriously looking for 10k revs!

Keen to see how this goes.

Some of those 2L sports sedans are serious monsters. There's a couple of escorts getting around with 30k worth of Cosworth under the bonnet so I'm keen to see how this performs.

How are you going to manage the fact that 3k's are getting to be 30+ years old and the block prep will be critical?

Love to see some shots of this head as well, next time my engine comes apart I want to do a bunch of work to the head.

I might try to call them and see what they may make. Their current catalogue on the web doesn't list anything for our k engines, so here's hoping. Least I have a photo to mimic!!!

And yeah, you can see by the 600 price already 3 days out from auction end...

And in other news, were changing the car to a KE30 coupe... At the moment, I will hopefully be picking up the car on Tuesday night, and fitting a worked 5k i have floating around. Reason for purchasing this is that it's already rego'd. Keto with its Suspension and what not was just too much, and basically I bought the roller for not much more than the price of rego... Some good purchasing!

Taz_RX was pretty right. Those Speedway dads are pretty 'dedicated'. :D

I'm still yet to phone up Crow to see if they will still make them. there are plenty of other parts available for them though...

Crank is coming along slowly, but looking beautiful!

I pick up the KE30 rolling shell tonight from like 2+ hours away, hopefully i can get the spare 5k and everything in there before the weekend, as i would love to get up to toyotafest in Sydney on the Sunday (mrs works on Sundays - best shifts ever!)
