Georgie-Lee Posted September 12, 2012 Report Posted September 12, 2012 my ke30 is having ignition problems =( So, I turn the key to start it like normal, it starts, but as soon as I let go of the key it turns off.. to keep the car running I have to hold the key on the whole time. makes driving really hard considering I have to keep hold of the key and the wheel at the same time... I've tried a new ignition barrel and its not that, also tried disconnection the barrel and stating it with a screw driver, same thing happens, I have to hold the screw driver turned... So i thought i would try on here before i book in to a auto electrician, does anyone have any idea whats going on?? Quote
Medicine_Man Posted September 12, 2012 Report Posted September 12, 2012 ballast resistor is open circuit. Quote
altezzaclub Posted September 12, 2012 Report Posted September 12, 2012 (edited) Sounds like it- remember the ignition wiring dodges around the ballast resistor while cranking to feed full voltage to the coil. When you let the key go it then feeds power through the ballast resistor to drop the voltage to what the coil is designed for. (this is KE70, but I'd expect it to be the same) Lol- that diagram didn't have a ballast in it! I'll take a look for another one. Edited September 12, 2012 by altezzaclub Quote
