ke-rolla Posted September 11, 2012 Report Posted September 11, 2012 as the title says guys, I'm looking to paint my KE20 soon and I'm a little lost on what colour to chase, I'm wanting something thats going to go well with the wheels my current ideas i have considered: Gloss black Gloss black with a green pearl TE27 green (in metalic/or with a slight pearl) gunmetal grey If you agree with any of the above then let me know, if you have other ideas for me to look into let me know also! cheers guys heres a pic of the car to help brew your ideas Quote
GCrolla Posted September 11, 2012 Report Posted September 11, 2012 (edited) Being that your on the green/black wave length, possibly this... Or Matte Gunmetal grey... Also, Ive seen your build, and being a ke20 owner, this is the best corolla Ive ever seen. Edited September 11, 2012 by GCrolla Quote
ke-rolla Posted September 11, 2012 Author Report Posted September 11, 2012 cheers mate its been a neverending project but its getting there now, just hanging out to start it up never thought of a matte..but thinking of it now it would give it a mean stance! and be a bit different, keep the ideas and opinions coming guys Quote
oh what a nissan feeling! Posted September 11, 2012 Report Posted September 11, 2012 I disagree with option 2, other than that theyre all good. Personally i would go the gloss black. Matte black is a great way to make a nice car look like a pos. Quote
Oh-KE Posted September 11, 2012 Report Posted September 11, 2012 Yeah don't paint it matte if you are putting effort into prep. I like the gloss black idea, or gunmetal would be nice. Quote
GCrolla Posted September 11, 2012 Report Posted September 11, 2012 Yeah, I defiantly think the black/green effect would be the best option...my brothers' Sil80 is gunmetal grey, it is a wicked colour... I just love my hotrods and think the matte finish is cool and something different, but you're probably right, may be a bit of a waste with all the prep you're doing... then again the paint probably wont matter once you reveal what's under the bonnet lol Quote
wagn Posted September 12, 2012 Report Posted September 12, 2012 IMO old cars need old style colors pearls etc can cheapen the look of a classic car i personally would stick to a toyota or similar color of the era the car was made in Quote
philbey Posted September 12, 2012 Report Posted September 12, 2012 I second that, pearls are tacky especially if you don't have a straight-as-a-die body. Quote
ke-rolla Posted September 12, 2012 Author Report Posted September 12, 2012 another idea thats come to mind that actually looks pretty nice (in my head) is a flat red or original red but with a few extra coats of clear to give it a real nice reflection? yes, no, maybe? Quote
GCrolla Posted September 13, 2012 Report Posted September 13, 2012 (edited) If the body is done with the same perfection as the rest of the car, any finish will look the part. To me the car is custom enough to accompany any new paint finish, and a standard finish may even look a bit half done. Candy apple red is, almost, always a nice choice. With lots of clear to set off the depth of the coat :) Edited September 13, 2012 by GCrolla Quote
flyinwall Posted September 16, 2012 Report Posted September 16, 2012 I'm a bit partial to the green and black theme as well but then again i am a bit biased as i own a ke20 that is half way through a green paint job Quote
benhachi Posted September 18, 2012 Report Posted September 18, 2012 Funny how I also own both the cars in the photo. Polo and ke20 Quote
