B.L.Z.BUB Posted November 1, 2012 Author Report Posted November 1, 2012 I got home and there was fuel pissing out of a pipe under the car under the fuel cap. From what I'm assuming is the over flow. Should I be worried? Not HEAPS but a few hundred ml. I opened the fuel cap and it stopped. Quote
Mark90 Posted November 2, 2012 Report Posted November 2, 2012 I got home and there was fuel pissing out of a pipe under the car under the fuel cap. From what I'm assuming is the over flow. Should I be worried? Not HEAPS but a few hundred ml. I opened the fuel cap and it stopped. I had this once, it was a really hot day and I had overfilled the day before, I guess when it's hot pressure builds up and things get crazy. .... Did you have much petrol in your tank? Quote
Jono.C Posted November 2, 2012 Report Posted November 2, 2012 Yeah just a pressure build up. I don't do my cap up as tight anymore and it seems to work Quote
oldie Posted November 2, 2012 Report Posted November 2, 2012 can you buy petrol caps with a vent to release pressure? Quote
rian Posted November 2, 2012 Report Posted November 2, 2012 Shouldn't the charcoal canister be taking care off the pressure? Quote
towe001 Posted November 2, 2012 Report Posted November 2, 2012 Nar, the charcoal canister is for the fuel vapour. It locks in the vapours or fumes from the tank till the motor is running then they get sucked into the carby. The canister didn't come into the corollas till about the late model '30. Same thing (but early ke30) with an overflow or expansion tank on the fuel tank. The wagons (ke3x onwards) have a separate expansion tank somewhere around the lower "C" pillar. The earlier stuff just has a simple vent tube from the tank - which could be blocked. Quote
nerfbat Posted November 2, 2012 Report Posted November 2, 2012 we used to cop this on various cars over the years, when we would fill the tank right up, and only open the fuel cap when it ran low again. but didnt notice it in the 18 mate? vent is blocked, imho not serious, if you can't find the blockage, simply relieve the pressure every now and then, by taking the cap off Quote
B.L.Z.BUB Posted November 16, 2012 Author Report Posted November 16, 2012 Got home, getting it ready for the Kawana car show. Washing it, chilling. BANG.Alarm starts going nuts. Fffffuuuuuuuuuu...... Run inside to grab the keys, ass over on the tiles because foamy water feet. Limp back out to disarm it. WTF, wont disarm. OK, pop the hood and turn it off with the key. THE FCUKING TOOTH ON THE KEY IS SNAPPED OFF! RAGE! Managed to turn the lock with a jewellers screwdriver lent to me by my neighbour. Dunno WTF is going on with that. Anyway ended up looking sweet for the meet. Got a heap of love. Quote
flyinwall Posted November 16, 2012 Report Posted November 16, 2012 so are you bringing the 18 camping tomorrow Quote
Mark90 Posted November 16, 2012 Report Posted November 16, 2012 Hey man, ever thought about putting some whitewalls on her? I thought about it at work today (is it weird that I thought about your car?), thought it'd look sweet! Quote
B.L.Z.BUB Posted November 16, 2012 Author Report Posted November 16, 2012 Maybe flappers. Needs low first. No camping as Peanut needs the box on the floor (plus everything else). Quote
B.L.Z.BUB Posted November 17, 2012 Author Report Posted November 17, 2012 It was a hard decision to drill holes in the apron but I think it was worth it. MK1 Golf GTi lip. Quote
rian Posted November 17, 2012 Report Posted November 17, 2012 I reckon this would look absolutely bawwwws times infinity if you took the visor and roof sticker off 1 Quote
