Dust03 Posted November 4, 2012 Author Report Posted November 4, 2012 Only the ones with a Bosch dizzy, but I be live there is a kit for the denso one aswell Quote
lokie168 Posted November 6, 2012 Report Posted November 6, 2012 how will I know if my dizzy is a bosh one? Quote
snot35 Posted November 6, 2012 Report Posted November 6, 2012 Black cap, usually say BOSCH on them somewhere. Quote
lokie168 Posted November 7, 2012 Report Posted November 7, 2012 (edited) I changed the distributor and rotor cap though. not that great on details. below are the photos i took Edited November 7, 2012 by lokie168 Quote
snot35 Posted November 7, 2012 Report Posted November 7, 2012 (edited) Looks very much like a Denso to me. In a '55 right? Bosch units don't have the knob on them to adjust timing depending on fuel grade (clear cover over it). Edited November 7, 2012 by snot35 Quote
lokie168 Posted November 7, 2012 Report Posted November 7, 2012 (edited) it's on a 35 snot. and yes it's to adjust timing. so is it really a denso? Edited November 7, 2012 by lokie168 Quote
Dust03 Posted November 7, 2012 Author Report Posted November 7, 2012 That'd be a denso unit, looks nothing like the bosch 3ND4U1 looks to be the kit Quote
lokie168 Posted November 7, 2012 Report Posted November 7, 2012 thank you dust. so the kit will be containing the points or the whole dizzy itself? Quote
snot35 Posted November 8, 2012 Report Posted November 8, 2012 I'd imagine it would have wiring, some sort of sensor and breaker plate to bolt into your current dizzy. Quote
Dust03 Posted November 8, 2012 Author Report Posted November 8, 2012 Shows you on the website But it comes with The pickup/module which is the little little red box and 2 wires, this is mounted on a base plate that simply bolts to the dizzy where ur points would And it also has a black ring, this slips over the dizzy cam (the part the the point runs on) this is the magnet that the pickup senses It also seems very important according to the website and the instructions they sent that ur coil must the correct resistance otherwise ur module/pickup will fail Quote
GREESR Posted November 19, 2012 Report Posted November 19, 2012 I used a hotspark module designed for a land rover. i had to drill and "cut 'n' shut" the mounting plate for it and modify the trigger wheel that goes over the breaker points cam with a bit of quick bond. i can post some pics up if anyone is interested. GREESR Posted December 4, 2012 Report Posted December 4, 2012 (edited) Pictures! also as you can see I've locked the vacuum advance... this is to compensate the fact my 4k corolla is a race can and always at full throttle... and the positioning of the module wouldn't allow the room. lokie168 Posted December 6, 2012 Report Posted December 6, 2012 did it just went straight in? didn't have to do anything on your stock dizzy? Quote
