ke20rolla Posted February 4, 2006 Report Posted February 4, 2006 Gday all. I have just converted my '73 ke20 to twin downdraught webers. Originally I was running a single downdraught weber, but have longed for a twin carby setup, so I purchased a twin carb manifold from cameron with the yellow the ke70 panelvan. :P So all I had to do was, buy another brand new weber and there you go I have two now. So I will have something to show you all at our next Rolla meet. :) Seeyou all soon. :y: :) :) :) :) :) Quote
ke30king Posted February 10, 2006 Report Posted February 10, 2006 (edited) have you got it tuned yet? we will have to check it out at the next meet :o Edited February 10, 2006 by ke30king Quote
ke70panelvan Posted February 25, 2006 Report Posted February 25, 2006 where did you get the adaptor plates from? Quote
ke20rolla Posted February 25, 2006 Author Report Posted February 25, 2006 Hi, I got the adapter plates from PABS. They have them on the shelve. Quote

ketwenty Posted September 25, 2006 Report Posted September 25, 2006 i love the sound that webbers make Quote
TOY3TG Posted September 29, 2006 Report Posted September 29, 2006 sounds good, what engine are they on? Quote
ke20rolla Posted September 30, 2006 Author Report Posted September 30, 2006 Hi, here are some pictures of the twin webers on my worked 5k motor. :jamie: Quote
bruce Posted October 13, 2006 Report Posted October 13, 2006 Looks pretty nice :) How is the power now, compared to just one webber? Does it sound good? Quote
muller Posted October 13, 2006 Report Posted October 13, 2006 Looks pretty nice :) How is the power now, compared to just one webber?Does it sound good? Also interested to know the difference from one to two. Can anyone say weather sidedrafts offer more/less rather than the downdraft? Nice ride though, what else you have done to your 5k? Quote
ke20rolla Posted October 14, 2006 Author Report Posted October 14, 2006 There is a bit of difference from one to two webers. People say that side draughts are better, but they cost nearly twice as much. The 5k motor has had a fair bit done to it, it's a later model hydraulic lifter engine. It's been bored out 0.60' thou or 1.0 mm, It's got a mild cam lightened flywheel, flat top pistons and shaved head and also the head and manifold have been ported and polished. I'm using the 3k dissy because I had electronic ignition fitted to it. I had to get the dissy re-curved and I'm using BP Ultimate as well to try and stop it from pigning. I can't advance the spark any further than about 2 degrees before top dead center with out it rattling it's head off, this I'm told is due to the high compression of the motor. :) Quote
Brendo Posted October 14, 2006 Report Posted October 14, 2006 Side draught webers shit all over down draught, having 1 or 2 side draughts on a k motor with the slant they are on wont bring the best out of the carby as they are pointing down into the extractors etc... This is why my 3 k is mounted straight which makes the gearbox on a big angle, it has a custom shifter and crossmember other wise the gear knob will be like under your left knee lol cheers Brendan Quote
bruce Posted October 17, 2006 Report Posted October 17, 2006 Hey ke20rolla, Is that a 3K-B inlet manifold? It is water heated isn't it? I think I can see a little connection on the side of the manifold in your first photo. Do you think it would be worth water heating the manifold? Quote
Jordan Posted October 17, 2006 Report Posted October 17, 2006 Can anyone say weather sidedrafts offer more/less rather than the downdraft? Dependons on the style of the carburetor. There is the 'Escort' style weber, like shown here which has a mechanical secondary and are good upgrades if you want to keep your standard inlet manifold. these offer good drivability and smooth power once the secondary opens up. Then there are the race inspired IDA/IDF (twin throat down draft type,) think old school Lamborghini or ferrari or Ported rotors (they typically run a single 48 or 52mm IDA) Then there are the side drafts DCOE webers, which are similar to the solex carburetors found on the 2TG and 18RG motors. Both the IDA/IDF and DCOE carburetors have 2 throats of equal size and are generally regarded as the best carburetors on the market for outright power. However like ITB's they offer poor low speed driveability, an area where the 'Escort' style weber exceeds. Jordan Quote
