Jared Posted February 4, 2006 Report Posted February 4, 2006 hey guys just wondering if the 20valve can handle say stock t28 boost 9psi with little mods? Quote
Jason Posted February 4, 2006 Report Posted February 4, 2006 there is loads of info about boosted 20v around Quote
Mr Revhead[RL] Posted February 6, 2006 Report Posted February 6, 2006 yes they can however u wont be happy with the reliability as jason said..... heaps of info out there. but basiclly: rebuild with 4agze pistons and rings fit 3sgte injectors use aftermarket ecu Quote
Clown Posted February 12, 2006 Report Posted February 12, 2006 talk to "Speed Tech" in New Zealand. They have a turbo 20v putting out crazy numbers. Quote
Mr Revhead[RL] Posted February 12, 2006 Report Posted February 12, 2006 yes but its a pure drag engine they also have some funny ideas like only using 8.0:1 pistons. Quote
beerhead Posted February 12, 2006 Report Posted February 12, 2006 When you add up the cost of an ecu, turbo and manifold, intercooler and piping. It makes you think, it would be worth spending the $700 bucks on forged 20V pistons? http://cgi.ebay.com.au/TOYOTA-TURBO-4AGE-2...1QQcmdZViewItem I've heard GZE pistons ping like a bitch in a 20V unless alot of tuning is done. I'm in the process of getting a 4AGTE together, thought about going down the 20V road, but considering I want to run a megasquirt, I figured a Low K gze bottom end would be cheaper to kill than a turbo 20V item. beerhead Posted February 12, 2006 Report Posted February 12, 2006 Thing is though you might want to be able to tune the motor, I want the rings and bearings to be run in. If I got a 100kw bottom end I'd be inclined to get new gze pistons, bigends, mains and rings, which is the plan once I have a good map to play with. Quote
Mr Revhead[RL] Posted February 12, 2006 Report Posted February 12, 2006 've heard GZE pistons ping like a bitch in a 20V unless alot of tuning is done. thats not true. and youll need tuning no matter how u go about it yes 100kw bottem end is the better start. for the cost of a ze you can buy and rebuild a 100kw bottem end with NEW ze pistons TRD bearings and new gaskets Quote
