JordyKE Posted July 31, 2012 Report Posted July 31, 2012 I'm planning on getting my 5K engine started tomorrow. I can't find my dipstick, so i'm on the lookout for one (ANYONE??) Now the question is.... Can i start my engine if i plug it up super tight? Or is that stupid? Cheers Quote
JordyKE Posted July 31, 2012 Author Report Posted July 31, 2012 Ps, are they different to 3K or 4K dipsticks...?? If not, i'm sweet. Quote
B.L.Z.BUB Posted July 31, 2012 Report Posted July 31, 2012 (edited) You can use a 4k dipstick, it may not read correct though. Drop your oil, put in 4k dipstick, fill with recommended amount of oil, mark level on 4k dipstick. 5K & 5K-C Engine Oil Capacity Dry refill with oil filter 3.6 litres Drain & Fill with oil filter 3.4 litres Drain & Fill without oil filter 3.0 litres. And from another thread on the subject The 4k and 5k dipsticks were the same length - which makes sense as they're the same stroke, just a bigger bore. The 3k dipstick however was a good 40-45mm longer than the other 2x. So much so that the guauges on the end don't even overlap! So if you used say a 4k dipstick in a 3k (cause I doubt a 3k one would fit in a 4k) and filled it up with the correct amount of oil it wouldn't even register on the 4k dipstick. That's awesome thanks mate!! That's a lot of stress of my head now haha. It's brand new, so i'll put in the 3.6 litres. Cheers for that. Quote
