Teddy Posted March 26, 2004 Report Posted March 26, 2004 Hey all Well, after 2 days karting session with a friend (archefield carts) ive got an idea. 1 of the guys there was talking about a Rotax kart which had a 500 CC motor & a 5 speed attached - did the 1/4 mile in just ova 11 seconds - and could do wheel spin around the hole archefield kart track in 3rd gear... :D So, This gave me the idea. Rotax + Rotax + Rotax + Rotax = (500 X 4) = 2000 CC ..... into ke70... .... .. - nar - :P Why do that, when i could go and get a super bike motor that redlines @ abou 14 k, connect it up into the ke70, using all mod bits to get it to fix, and see how that goes :D (Disclamer - its only a 'joke' idea, so don't take it to heart if a mechically mided person out there knows 200% that its stupid, wrong, impossible... etc) - But its still worth a laugh lol - Quote

demuire Posted March 26, 2004 Report Posted March 26, 2004 Not to mention motorcycle engines tend to have about zero torque. There are already motorcycle powered cars (Hayabusa generally), but they're generally in lighter cars like Lotus 7's. I think I posted a link to a twin engined one ages ago. Quote
irokin Posted March 26, 2004 Report Posted March 26, 2004 in england theres some guys with a car called the "Escort RR". Basically an escort with a motorbike engine... i think it is that uses a 990cc..goes hard...but the engine makes like 130hp @ 11,000rpm Quote

Super Jamie Posted March 26, 2004 Report Posted March 26, 2004 suzuki released a concept car at the jap motor show a couple of years ago which was a 600cc motorbike motor in a twinseat car made of carbon kevlar, weighed about 500kg from memory and yes, motorbike motors have no torque. to even just start moving normally off a stop, you'd have to slip the clutch at like 9000rpm still, i'd lighten a mini or ke10 or r100 and put a turbo motorbike motor in it for a wicked hillclimb car for those of your on broadband, have a look for a video called "gixxercart", suzuki gsxr motor in a go kart. 115ps, 150kg, drifts like a motherf@$ker!
