Jordanrolla Posted June 16, 2013 Report Posted June 16, 2013 haha, thanks dave. Yep, couldn't have made it any simpler to bolt one of these suckers into a KE70. Quote
Twincam16seca Posted June 16, 2013 Report Posted June 16, 2013 (edited) yeah nah, not the answer I was after. I don't think that would pass for a street driven car even if it goes through an engineer, I was hoping to use a stock cross member modified like bill sherwood http://www.billzilla...crossmember.jpg. If the cross member is spaced it will obviously place the engine lower to the ground which is not a good thing seeing as it is a tall engine with a low sump to start with. so the the questions still stand! Is the auto trans tunnel larger than the manual tunnel in the AE71? if so, would I still have to modify the trans tunnel or the firewall for the J160? Also what is the distance between the end of the bell housing and the centre of the shifter on a J160? Edited June 16, 2013 by Twincam16seca Quote
LittleRedSpirit Posted June 16, 2013 Report Posted June 16, 2013 Thats what a tape measure and a trip to the wreckers is for. If you want to know how big something is, measure it! Quote
ke70dave Posted June 16, 2013 Report Posted June 16, 2013 Did you read that thread over at ae86dc? there is a huge thread about this. There are a few guys over there that have done it. The reason i sent jordans forsale thread is that he has done it and he has quoted that you don't need to modify the tunnel IF you move the crossmember down 1" Thus to me that sais if you don't want to move cross member down, then you need to find this 1" somewhere else, ie, cut it out of your tunnel/firewall? Jordanrolla Posted June 19, 2013 Report Posted June 19, 2013 Also if your worried about a low hanging sump you could just trim the bottom of the sump and pick up and wing it to get back the capacity Quote
