paul038 Posted July 11, 2012 Report Posted July 11, 2012 Howdy was thinking of buying an engine From interstate, seeing I have never done this before, I was Hoping some one would be able to point me in the right direction , what are some good shipping companies? Thanks. Paul Quote
B.L.Z.BUB Posted July 11, 2012 Report Posted July 11, 2012 http://www.e-go.com.au/home.do Continue to hear good things about these guys. Good prices too. Quote
ke11restorer Posted July 11, 2012 Report Posted July 11, 2012 Have used E-Go in the past.. Customer service is basically non existent tho. Northline is also good. I've shipped some fairly large items thru them without trouble. Couriers please is also good for large but light items. I don't think they will do an engine Quote
Jono.C Posted July 11, 2012 Report Posted July 11, 2012 Only good thing about e-go is it's cheap.. It sucks. I've waited for stuff for over 3 weeks from melbourne before Quote
19914afc Posted July 11, 2012 Report Posted July 11, 2012 Yeah, e-go is usually cheap and good, but I had come brakes shipped and because the box broke they just left it at depot for 2 weeks till i finally poped in and asked and they said yeah the box broke, so just make sure it's packaged well and recieve it fine. I also wouldn't be too keen on buying an engine without hearing it running but hey that's just me. Quote
paul038 Posted July 11, 2012 Author Report Posted July 11, 2012 Ok thanks for the help guys just one more question have any of you had an engine shipped before if so how much did or set you back. Thanks again. Paul Quote
ke11restorer Posted July 11, 2012 Report Posted July 11, 2012 Costs about 80 bucks thru northline. Shipped engines to Adelaide, Brissy, Sydney etc Quote
bruce Posted July 11, 2012 Report Posted July 11, 2012 (edited) I've used e-go a few times for shipping engines and gearboxes. Depot-to-depot delivery since it's cheaper. Haven't had any major issues with them, just sometimes it can take a while or it's sitting at the depot and they don't call you. The online tracking does not update or say it has arrived. No customer service, just an email contact on the website, so if something gets lost it's hard to contact them. There is optional insurance. E-go is part of hunter express, but if you call them up they say they don't deal with e-go freight. They outsource their service, e.g. in Tassie it's Road Runners freight that does the delivery. So if something happens, the point where the freight was dropped off and delivered can be used as a contact. If sending through them, need to make sure the freight is secure and have the consignment note number and your contact details written on, just in case the consignment note (barcode) printout comes off. Should be OK. I would only use them for heavy auto parts, fragile things I would use another courier. Edited July 11, 2012 by bruce Quote
parrot Posted July 11, 2012 Report Posted July 11, 2012 Had 5 windscreens sent from Brisbane to Melbourne via E-go. This is the only time I have had experience with them. They rang ahead to arrange a delivery time and then two massive polynesian guys just picked them up out of the back of the truck like it was nothing, and popped them on the verandah. The price was pretty good too. Had heard mixed reports, but this one experience was very good. Generally I have found all courier companies are crap - whether it's a small or big item. Unless you use Marken or World Courier who are excellent always, but also hella expensive. Quote
paul038 Posted July 11, 2012 Author Report Posted July 11, 2012 alright thanks everyone been really great information helped me out a lot. paul. Quote
LittleRedSpirit Posted July 11, 2012 Report Posted July 11, 2012 Inxpress are a freight broker. One call and they will automatically find the best deal and save you money. Been using them for a while now and they rock. Quote
coln72 Posted July 11, 2012 Report Posted July 11, 2012 I was thinking along the same lines - but its been 10 years since I was involved with logistics. If its a popular destination, you may find a company looking for a back load. Should be cheap. Quote
