Zoidburg Posted July 1, 2012 Report Posted July 1, 2012 This might be a dumb question to many, but is there a difference between a dipstick for a 4K and a 5K? I just had my 5K rebuilt and lost the dipstick in the process, so I went to the wrecking yard and got one from a 4K. It currently indicates my oil level is over full. I put about 3.5 litres in it? This is a pretty serious little motor, so I want to make sure it has the right amount. Thanks Quote
rian Posted July 1, 2012 Report Posted July 1, 2012 Pretty sure they are different, I had a 3K, 4K and 5K side by side recently and all the dipsticks/dipstick tubes looked different, however I didn't get them out and measure them. I should have but I didn't think of it at the time. Quote
Zoidburg Posted July 1, 2012 Author Report Posted July 1, 2012 Ahh it should be fine. Oddly enough I got a 3K and 4K dipstick today and they are both exactly the same. I'm guessing they all share the same oil capacity and sump. Cheers Quote
Evan G Posted July 1, 2012 Report Posted July 1, 2012 sumps are interchageable only difference is that the 5k dipstick tube is bent and the 4k one is straight Quote
rian Posted July 1, 2012 Report Posted July 1, 2012 (edited) According to Castrol, the 3K uses 2.7L of oil and the 4K uses 3.0L of oil. Couldn't find the capacity of the 5K. Edit: 5K uses 3.0L of oil. Edited July 1, 2012 by rian Quote
