My little KE20 has a bit of a story with me.

I swapped a VR Commodore for her back in mid 2010, and immediately fell in love with her, but she had a hard life before I got her. The bloke I got it from had spray painted it dark blue with the bonnet spray painted black, endless amounts of bog, and it had mis-matched stud patterns. My original plans were to spray her matte black and put on some spotties, along with the little mudflaps on chains I'd already put on, and make it a little rally spec daily kinda thing as I live on dirt roads. But after owning it for a bit, and bumping into a tree at some point and damaging the front passenger quarter, I lost interest, and sold it for the lowly sum of $50 with a day's rego to a friend (which I regretted ever since), where it sat in a backyard un touched up until about a month ago, where I got the offer to get it back for free. Since picking it up, I got the mindset to restore it and make her real tidy, but I'm running into some snags (as we all do!). So far I've taken the damaged quarter off, the bumpers off, and the grille/headlight surrounds off as I'm cleaning the spray paint off to get the original turquoisey colour back.

So far a decent scrubbing has gotten some of the paint off, I've been told either 2000 grit wet and dry will be needed to help get the rest off, or to strip it all back and start from square one, which is a bit iffy with me due to the bulk amount of bog, especially in the rear quarters. The spare tyre well is also rusted through, which I'm assuming will need new metal welded in.

As for running gear, it's got a 4K and 5 speed out of a KE70, stock diff and rear drums, and what I'm assuming are KE30 front disks and hubs due to the different stud pattern. What's interesting is the fact I had to use a Jap spec tailshaft uni joint, although the plate in the engine bay says it was Australian made.

The interior is... not great. I'm assuming it's a higher spec model due to the factory ashtrays, as the ones I've seen on the net don't have the one in the dash (the ones I've seen anyway). It has an imperial speedo, but someone in the past has put a metric/imperial cutout over top with white and yellow numbers. The interior itself is majority black with chrome stripping on the door cards, with white roof lining and sun visors. Unfortunately it doesn't have the centre console, but I'd love to find one soon. It's got Japanese characters on the vents, unsure if that's a standard thing or not. Also, sadly, someone in the past has made a mess if the dash trying to put a cd player in.

Sorry for the novel lol I'd love to hear your input or opinions or advice, or parts if you live in SA :)

No pics as if yet due to a shitty phone, but will put some up when I can

Cheers man, my plans at the moment are to just make it look decent and paint it so I don't get molested by the police, and when I have the cash I wanna get a chin spoiler, flares and fat little JDM meshies, then close door respray it white so tue engine bay, door jams etc stay that light blue, then get the mesh centres sprayed the same blue
