crunk81us Posted June 13, 2012 Report Posted June 13, 2012 Always wanted a ke20 with a 4age.. so i bought this: (I removed fwd accesories, gearbox,) and this: (Removed guards, bonnet, Pulled 3k and box out, labelled cables, degreased and moved everything out of the way of my bigger donk) Pulled the clutch off, almost new exedy, installed spigot bearing removed wiring loom, manifolds and started nutting out the weirdo cooling system Quote
crunk81us Posted June 17, 2012 Author Report Posted June 17, 2012 (edited) So I am attempting to use as much of the original bits as i can to keep costs down. I have modified the fwd themostat housing to fit just in front of where the engine mounts should be. fwd water pipes: cut flanges cut original rubber hoses, dummy mount thermostat housing. had to spin the lower radiator hose section 180 degrees Edited June 17, 2012 by crunk81us 1 Quote
Gizzys25 Posted June 17, 2012 Report Posted June 17, 2012 (edited) I was thinking of doing the same with the with the cooling system, looks like it is a simple solution. Keep the pics coming i want to see how it all fits up. Also how / what are you using for Engine mounts? Edited June 17, 2012 by Gizzys25 Quote
crunk81us Posted June 18, 2012 Author Report Posted June 18, 2012 Not sure on engine mounts yet.. I'll probably weld something up. I have a mig now  Quote
Gizzys25 Posted June 19, 2012 Report Posted June 19, 2012 Willing to make 2 sets of mounts? Welding is one thing I'm not so good at. Actually, I Suck at it Quote
crunk81us Posted October 8, 2012 Author Report Posted October 8, 2012 So have been busy at work, have been collecting the parts i needed. Finally got a little bit of time, and pulled the intake manifold to bits, and have cut the throttle body mount and swapped to the other end. Quote
crunk81us Posted October 8, 2012 Author Report Posted October 8, 2012 (edited) Picked up a T40 from a 4ac rwd for the bellhousing, and a ta22 celica with t50 for the box and the hydraulic clutch. From my research it appears i might be able to use the original tailshaft without mods.... until i destroy the diff ;) Edited October 8, 2012 by crunk81us Quote
crunk81us Posted October 10, 2012 Author Report Posted October 10, 2012 (edited) I connected all the cables and fuel pump up to engine and..... click for video.. Edited October 10, 2012 by crunk81us Quote
crunk81us Posted October 15, 2012 Author Report Posted October 15, 2012 Ok so I have pulled the t50 from celica, fitted it to the bellhousing from 4ac, cleaned it all and fitted it to engine. Had some issues with the clutch fork and throwout bearing. I ended up with the fork and bearing from the celica and the slave cylinder from fwd box. I had to cut the end off the fork and weld a new end on. It appears to work, but i guess i wont be sure until its test day. Quote
crunk81us Posted October 21, 2012 Author Report Posted October 21, 2012 Engine is in! Thanks to Jordan for the engine and gearbox mounts! they were pretty much perfect.. everything worked as planned. The TA22 celica gearbox slid onto the original tailshaft, the shifter came thru the original hole in the floor. just perfect. Still have wiring, clutch master, fuel lines/pump etc, to do but the initial test drive is within sight! Quote
ke70dave Posted October 21, 2012 Report Posted October 21, 2012 nice! nice video, running an engine on a tyre is one of the most fun things to do! my neighbors hated me that day. Quote
Jordanrolla Posted October 23, 2012 Report Posted October 23, 2012 looks good man, glad to see it all worked out ok. Another happy customer Quote
