This may have been done to death but after many hours of searching I have found one guy saying it will work and another showing the lower bolt size differences and stating this will stop it happening.... I really need some solid confirmation that twin cam front and rear struts will fit in place of their single cam cousins without changing the hubs... I have the front and rear hubs aswell as the discs and calipers but its my daughters car and don't want it off the road for the four wheel disc conversion that I would do if it were mine... any help with this would be much appreciated

Cheers in advance

I came across your pics in my search Trev and was wondering if it was possible to sleeve the larger strut holes but failing that, if I were to put the twincam front brakes on, I wonder if it would change the brake bias enough to be an issue...? anyone been there, done that?

It would be safer and easier to just get the twincam hubs, you can put your SOHC rotor and caliper on the twincam hub, what is the reason behind wanting to put the twincam struts in it?

Well not even 2 months we pulled a full set front and rears pedders out of our superstrut twin cam and sold the to ben who put them into his single cam. All he did was put a washer where the front strut bots to the hub coz they are a couple of mm wider. Of course we swapped the tops over to the the 3 bolt hat type. These are the 2 cars 1 week after it was done.

Not to mention how unsafe it also is.

? no safety issue its a washer as a 2mm spacer. Nothing is or will move,

So the extra room either side of the bolt that the strut can move around is all good?

Variable camber at it's finest.

there is no extra room coz the washer takes up the space and therefore there is no movement. If it moved around that would be a big problem. The car's been raced already and there is no evidence of movement which makes sense coz it can't actually move

Sweet, thats what I wanted to hear! I picked up a complete front and rear twincam setup ( hubs, shafts, rotors, calipers and good struts with lowered springs ) for an absolute bargain and will now be chuckin the struts in late next week. Thanks for that Rob, I was going to give the spacers a go and now I can do it with peace of mind

UMM what? the twincam and the single cam strut to hub bolts are 2 totally different thicknesses:

So tell me how just putting a washer on it solved this drama.

I just looked at trevs pics and thats different to bens, on bens car the bolts were exactly the same so i'm unsure whats doin there. The strut brackets with the bolt holes were also the exact same size. If its like trevs pics then i'd think u would want to put a either a stepped bolt in it or stepped washer so as there is no way it can travel up and down. Now i know what trev was on about.

i double checked with ben today and the bots on his are the same size but the washer goes inbetween the bracket off the strut and the hub. That takes out the free space difference.
