a stock 4k in good nick should be around 160-170 psi per pot.

my old tuned 4k, with 9.8:1 CR and a 25/65 cam put out 160-165psi per pot after 3 1/2 years of hard work, daily driven.

yeah, sounds bout right, so my motor is truely worn lol

o well, will get hold of a better 4k block, got a 3k head as off tommorow, will get new spark plugs, oil filter etc etc,

should run heaps better,

id say just rebuild the mofo, no 4k block you buy is gonna have anywhere near a good compression test result, most have done bazilions of k's and had their tits thrashed off by young people like us, just rebuild and be safe in the knowledge that shes a good block

rebuild so long as it doesn't need an overbore. if you can get by with a simple hone and rering, go for it.

once you have to start reboring, and adding up the price of new pistons etc, the price goes up dramatically.

oh, definitely!

i didnt even think of that, i would never consider it lol

although i wonder how far you could stretch a 4k.

then again, why not use a 5k, or 7k, and improve on the improved....now I'm thinking lol

if you go beserk on a k engine, it is not that hard to spend near as much as what it would take to do a conversion. i know of a few people who have spent around 2 grand on a 4k.

Hey! I resemble that remark!

My 3/4K banged out 180-190 when fresh. 10.9 cr.

I don't think it does that now after 3 years of raping.

and it prob doesnt make what a stock 4a would at the wheels, definitely not as reliably anyway.

Ummmm..... No.

That engine would definitely have more stick than a 4A. A 4A woukd also have not tolerated the "spirited driving" that this engine has put up with.
