headhoncho Posted May 8, 2012 Author Report Posted May 8, 2012 Why the resto? It looks pretty sweet in the photos. It's the little things! There are a few bits of rust just starting to come through which will quickly grow ugly if not fixed. (they don't show up in any of the photos I've posted). It's been repainted... slightly the wrong colour... I think I'll take that back to the original colour. The engine needs a tidy up.. I'll eventually rebuild it completely. The exhaust needs redoing (apart from the cool "octopus" extractors!). Seats need redoing - carpet - rear parcel shelf etc etc. It's more than just a tidy up.. and these things are so rare it's worth putting in the effort to make it right. "Some say" there were only 256 of these ever built - and less than 40 survive. Quote

Tally Posted May 8, 2012 Report Posted May 8, 2012 (edited) Cool car man, swap over the aircleaner setup onto this one? Yea JDM TE37s are actually very Rare, makes TE27s look like dime a dozen. and TE37s never came out with flares so has much cleaner lines Love the wheels also! Edited May 8, 2012 by Tally Quote
frasian Posted May 8, 2012 Report Posted May 8, 2012 beautiful car how long does it usually take from time of purchase to your door ? will it be hard to license ? i know someone who has a te27 from jap in WA and he is getting killed by inspectors Quote
headhoncho Posted May 8, 2012 Author Report Posted May 8, 2012 beautiful car how long does it usually take from time of purchase to your door ? In my case it was around 3 months... waiting for paperwork was the "worst" part! will it be hard to license ? i know someone who has a te27 from jap in WA and he is getting killed by inspectors I'll be putting it under a club permit, which caters for cars of this age/status. So, no it won't be a problem. And in Vic, this allows me to drive it for 90 days using a logbook. And, anyway, it's pretty stock... apart from being lowered, it's as it came from the factory... so there wouldn't be an issue anyway. Quote
headhoncho Posted May 8, 2012 Author Report Posted May 8, 2012 Cool car man, swap over the aircleaner setup onto this one? I probably will when I display it(!) It's a rare part, and it works particularly well on the rally car... so it'll stay there most of the time. (Also, it's off a TE27 so the actual air filter canister doesn't fit quite right) Quote
radrollaz Posted May 9, 2012 Report Posted May 9, 2012 That is a beautifull example of a TE37 mate, congratulations. Quote
philbey Posted May 9, 2012 Report Posted May 9, 2012 Hmm this might mean that getting hold of a Publica ST is more possible than I thought.... Quote

camerondownunder88 Posted May 12, 2012 Report Posted May 12, 2012 NICE buy. can't help but notice the drivers seat..... It looks 100% the same as the TRD fixed back seats of the day. If I was you Id get it re-trimed if it is. Should have TRD in the fiber glass mould some where. Have a look. Cheers Cameron Quote
