If your car is low enough not to be able to towed, The police would have defected it long before you broke down.

These look like rubbish,i couldnt imagine towing a rally car out of gully with them. They look more a wank factor type.

doesnt need to be low, the lip just needs to sit lower than the hook point. Mine isnt illegally low but the lip is lower than the hook.

If you run a low front bar that'd have a tow rope hitting it when towed?

The AE80/82's have that problem, with the standard front bumper, even at standard ride height. The position of the front tow hook means that the towrope/chain will push the bottom of the front bumper up when under load. :(

Which is why I'll be using one of those aftermarket jobs to replace it, just keeping it inside my cars bodywork so the popo don't get cranky. :)

Hey guys, thanks for replying,

I don't see the point in replacing perfectly good tow hooks which you know are legal for "racing" tow hooks in virtually the same place... Please tell me there's another reason besides aesthetics?

AFAIK you don't even need to replace the stock ones for most forms of motorsport.. Mates have never had an issue anyway, Put it that way.

It's not for aesthetics at all, I have two tow hooks, and both are extremely close to the intercooler outlets, I have trimmed the bottom radiator support back to be able to retain the front bumper and stock look, but I think it might come down to more trimming of the radiator support or the easy way out but removing the tow hooks.

I was planning to on getting one of the below pictured style of hooks and bolting it to where the original one is welded to but higher up where it's clear from obstructing anything.

I want to track the car on weekends and do club level motor-sport so I will need tow hooks for sure.

Thank you for your advice.
