GJM85 Posted May 2, 2012 Report Posted May 2, 2012 (edited) So took my Astra out for a bash/skid.... literally. I haven't driven the Belgium Bucket in about 2 two months. I think i've driven the 20banga more in the past few weeks, BREAKIN DA LAW! Looking to the future. I'm thinking 'that' in 'this'... Anywho. The ʞ©$ɟer has some poke. Cereal. Like Cocoa Pops on Rice Bubbles. Like the Iron Man on the Weaks Bix Kid. It may not seem like a lot but response and torque between 3000 & 5500rpm is great, Supplented by variable intake and MAP sensor, It's already, right hand forward plenum and left hand exaust, it ain't a bad bit of kit. The bad points are reliabity. But all issues arising with this engine are due to inconsistant maintenance, such as the timing belt water pump every 50,00kms. The coil packs every 100,000kms. I measured it. You, can't read my budget tape measure, but I need '710mm' and that's giving 100mm for clearances. It's a basic 00' City sedan with a measly 120hp... but the SRI 2.0 turbs puts down 197hp off the factory floor. How much with mods>? And that was a decade ago. Tell me I'm dreaming. Engine mounts are one thing. Gearbox and bell housing is the other..... before I get too excited, tell me what i'm missing.... Edited May 2, 2012 by GJM85 Quote
langdon69 Posted May 2, 2012 Report Posted May 2, 2012 hey, Well I'm no expert, but I do read a magazine called retro cars which is a uk mag. they always seem to have all sorts of vauxhalls an opels etc and there seem to be lots of conversion kits available to make lots of the ff motors fit fr set ups, opel manta's vauxall chevette's ( our gemini) seem to be commonly used as the gearbox with these new engines in a rwd conv. So possibly a gemini box? or see if you can pick up a copy of "retro cars" an shoot them an email an they will gladly help. good luck mate, sounds like an awesome idea! Quote
