goose101 Posted April 15, 2012 Report Posted April 15, 2012 hey everyone, i am doing a 4age conversion and ive run into a problem, i went to bolt the gearbox up to the motor today, and half of the bolts don't seem to line up? its a adm t50 and a bigport 4age, with the dowels that are spose to go in the top of the bell housing, the dowel is on the passenger side top sticking out of the engine, whereas the whole for it in the bellhousing is in the drivers side top, and a couple of the bolts just don't seem to go anywhere? I'm confused, please help Quote
LittleRedSpirit Posted April 15, 2012 Report Posted April 15, 2012 You might have a hydraulic clutch k-t50. If so, do a happy dance. 1 Quote
LittleRedSpirit Posted April 15, 2012 Report Posted April 15, 2012 (edited) Or your gearbox isnt a T50 at all, you might have a k50 from a ke70 or ke55. Put some pics up and people will tell you what it is. Edited April 15, 2012 by LittleRedSpirit Quote
goose101 Posted April 15, 2012 Author Report Posted April 15, 2012 i took a k50 out of my ke70 and the k50 is a one piece with a bell housing you can't take off isnt it? this is one with a removable bell housing and extension housing, ill take some pics when its light time but yeah much confusion Quote
goose101 Posted April 15, 2012 Author Report Posted April 15, 2012 right, just went out and counted some output shaft teeth, and there appears to be 21, also i had a look for some markings on the box and all i found was an old toyota logo on the lower drivers side and 1-2 written underneath it Quote
parrot Posted April 15, 2012 Report Posted April 15, 2012 Put a picture of the box including the shifter housing. You may have a T50 that is meant for a T series engine Quote
trd Posted April 16, 2012 Report Posted April 16, 2012 you've got a "T" bellhousing when you want "A" bellhousing. Between the two top mounting bolts it has it stamped what motor it fits (5k's don't have anything) Quote
goose101 Posted April 16, 2012 Author Report Posted April 16, 2012 (edited) hey i was wrong in my last post, its input has 21 teeth, output has 20, heres some photos to make things make more sense stud in the back of the motor http://s980.photobucket.com/albums/ae289/htrider/?action=view¤t=jdmstcruise033.jpg my bell housing and stud hole thats on the wrong side extension housing: http://s980.photobucket.com/albums/ae289/htrider/?action=view¤t=jdmstcruise028.jpg extension housing http://s980.photobucket.com/albums/ae289/htrider/?action=view¤t=jdmstcruise027.jpg the box http://s980.photobucket.com/albums/ae289/htrider/?action=view¤t=jdmstcruise024.jpg the box again http://s980.photobucket.com/albums/ae289/htrider/?action=view¤t=jdmstcruise025.jpg old toyota logo and some numbers on the box http://s980.photobucket.com/albums/ae289/htrider/?action=view¤t=jdmstcruise026.jpg Edited April 16, 2012 by goose101 Quote
Jono.C Posted April 16, 2012 Report Posted April 16, 2012 Reckon you have a T18/Ta22 gearbox, Pics didn't load properly on my computer but the output count seems right as from memory a ae71/86 box has 22? output splines. So it'd have a T series bellhousing if so which is no good for 4age Quote

goose101 Posted April 17, 2012 Author Report Posted April 17, 2012 Right, sourced another t50 from an ae71 so now I have a t50 to suit a t series engine for sale are these worth more or less than the normal t50? Quote
19914afc Posted April 17, 2012 Report Posted April 17, 2012 T series T50 are worth nothing really, haha. Quote
ke70dave Posted April 17, 2012 Report Posted April 17, 2012 depends who you are selling too. chuck it on ebay and you might get some bites. a mate of mine used one in his austin healey sprite, so their uses certainly arent soley toyota. Quote
