Hey guys and girls i have a problem with the gearbox i own its a k40 gearbox.

Need to find somthing to go on the shifter and the gear box its a little rubber boot i havent got one and need one soon i have a pic to show its circled in red below.

Was thinking of getting a steering rack boot and using one of them ?

.......And then you take it home to find out you can't put it on your shifter shaft with breaking it down!

If you put it in a bench vice you can break the rubber in the upper part of the shift with some vice grips. Slide the boot on an re-assemble with some sikaflex. ;)

That's going to smell oily and fuely as shieeeeeete in that car with that much air gap, plus it'll be loud as hell with a hole that large

 

Hope you plan to plate it up.. The factory one would have been more ideal though as it'd be air tight

Also, I dare say your floorpan may cut through that boot? Looks to rub

thats in some of the pics are in gears too but will be cutting and shutting the hole up and then the top boot goes on after

I recommend going to wreckers.

12 dollars is fine for me for a universal steering rack boot that fixed it and to fixup the hole and then the top boot
