Jono Posted January 13, 2006 Report Posted January 13, 2006 (edited) Hi, I got given a couple of ke20's, and bought smallport 4age, 22 spline t50, custom tailshaft, custom headers and 2 core radiator for $1500 to go in since my mate is changing to a 4AGTE. my mate has made me engine mounts to suit as well as welding the stocker diff mounts onto a ke55 diff. will probably go haltech e6x computer like everyone else. i have started plumbing in new brake lines (my mate lent me the tool for that but they are only $65 anyways). I put a recaro in, just had to elongate some holes on the original rails and it sits really nice and low. what else, i had to bash in the firewall a bit but after some bog and hammertone it looks ok. A thickish metal plate was welded in to provide support for the master cylinder so it doesn't feel shite. So i have all the bits and just need to bolt it in. but those haltechs are ~$1300 ouch, have to save for that. not sure why those imageshack pics didn't work - phaarq Edited June 3, 2008 by Jono Quote

Jono Posted January 17, 2006 Author Report Posted January 17, 2006 found a snapped stud in engine block. was so happy i managed to remove it i had to share a picture! here is a pic of the recaro i put in the car using the standard ke20 seat rails. i'm sure my dodgy engineer will approve! colour a bit garish! wouldn't mind the BMW colour "Hennarot" (that orangey red colour) I think that would be better than FORD festiva blueberry Quote
irokin Posted January 17, 2006 Report Posted January 17, 2006 I dunno. I like the blue...just don't tell anyone its off a festiva. Make up a fancy name for it and say its a custom colour..... Quote
muller Posted January 21, 2006 Report Posted January 21, 2006 yay, some more ke20's theres not enough of them round here :) the blue looks tough but they all seem to be blue so go the BMW color you said. Quote
Jono Posted February 15, 2006 Author Report Posted February 15, 2006 got the fuel system sorted out. I ended up going for a Bosch Motorsport fuel pump with a high flow, low pressure pump filling a surge tank. Had it all mounted but its removed now so i can paint the boot the same dodgy hammertone as the engine bay. :P Buying that haltech is getting closer and closer... Love that orange turbo 3k from the phillipines. Quote
Tiger Posted February 15, 2006 Report Posted February 15, 2006 Keep it up... it's getting there, dude! :P Mmmm.... Haltech Quote
Jono Posted February 17, 2006 Author Report Posted February 17, 2006 still need an alternator, starter motor computer and the thingmewhatsit that goes on the back (right side for FWD) of the head for the cooling system, but i need the slimline one where both plugs AREn;t next to each other (so it doesn't hit the firewall) got the clutch slave cylinder yesterday (sprayed myself in the eyes with it, yeah fully sic) This weekend: finish painting the boot, install fuel system and boot battery, again. Still need to modify a gearbox crossmember to suit. Quote
Corolla_Kid Posted February 17, 2006 Report Posted February 17, 2006 Nice work mate. Go the blue 20s lol. Quote
Jono Posted March 12, 2006 Author Report Posted March 12, 2006 here is the boot with fuel system almost finished. Quote
born_rolla Posted March 26, 2006 Report Posted March 26, 2006 that looks f@$king clean man I'm loving the fuel set up...looks mad :P Quote
Jono Posted March 31, 2006 Author Report Posted March 31, 2006 Got my inlet manifold back from Thornleigh Cylinder Heads. They did a great job: the throttle body is now facing the right way for RWD. Also have painted the 4age ke20 extractors after wrapping them in heat-wrap. Quote
Jono Posted April 4, 2006 Author Report Posted April 4, 2006 Got the rear water outlet off the fwd ae82 4age yesterday from Chris Young wreckers at Chipping Norton. Just need to find a suitable remote thermostat. Quote
