Got some 'autobarn special' door mirrors, look better than the mismatched black plastic ones :) Also got rid of the silver stripe on this side.

Prob get a rwc check next week so i can see how much more it needs to get on the road.

Got it checked out for RWC today.

Not too bad. Needs:

- New front shocks

- New front brake lines

- Tyres on front, just gonna get some 2nd hand ones

- Front left indicator lens on bumper

Anyone out there got any good ones of these items second hand?

Was thinking about doing the 86 struts thing rather than spending money on new inserts. Don't know tho, it's just a daily so prob not worth it. We'll see

Anyone used the Lovells Superlow springs (Part No. TFL-29SL) in the front of their e7? I used Lovells springs in an old rwd 323 I had and was pretty happy with them.

Anyone recommend anywhere in Melb to get new front brake hoses from?

I'm gonna wing it n try n change front shocks n brake hoses myself. Never done it before should be interestin and possibly involve a lot of swearing... :)

I found some new monroe shocks a friend bought and never used so I'm just going to put them in for now. Can't afford doing the 86, xt130 strut conversion at the mo. Prob look at it down the track.

Cheers.

Maybe ABS auto parts would be the go for the brake hoses. After converting the ae71 I had them custom make a hose for the clutch slave cylinder and it was great. Might cost a little $ though, for my length 250mm from memory including fittings was around $45.00. In saying that I had to wait maybe a week for it to be made, possibly with the hoses it could be quicker as they more off the shelf as a rwc item.

Heres one close by.. Corner of Lygon and Stewart St Brunswick.

If you've had and are satisified Lovells they should be okay in the Corolla, particularly if there specific to the model. Most common brands I heard of are Pedders and King Springs. Are you still chasing an indicator lense? Ill dig around for you at home.

I rang ABS, they want 75bucks for each hose, pretty expensive I reckon. I thought they'd be maybe 40 each or something.

I ordered an indicator from 'Mr Car Parts', $25. Haven't picked it up yet so if you've got one sitting around I'll buy it off ya.

It'll prob take me awhile to get this stuff done. I've gotta get a new trolley jack n stands. Wish I hadn't of sold my old ones :(

Those temporary body repairs look awesome Sam!

This car will really be nice to see on the road.

Keep up the good work

EDIT: If you're looking for hoses that are of good condition for RWC purposes and a decent lifespan, try eBay. Usually sent within a week or two and what i've ordered before has been on-par with anything brought locally.

Hey mate looks good;

One thing i wanted to ask; You replaced your dashboard - I didn't evne know this was possible; i have a huge crack in my dashboard at the top; Do i just purchase another one to amend that issue and will it go straight in?

Thanks guys.

Yeah I just bought a new dash top/pad and changed it over. There are a few floating around on the forum. ke70-ae71 ones are the same.

Just unscrew the old top, there are some bolts at the back that are a bit tricky to get too, just take out some of the heater piping. It's pretty easy, prob a half hourish job.

Cheers.

Also forgot to mention, if you need to borrow trolley jack and stands, I have all the gear sitting here not being used. Don't mind helping you out :)

Cheers Kid-Ae, that'd be awesome :) I reckon it's a great idea to share stuff like that. Where abouts are you loacted? I'm in Brunswick.

Thanks bro, jus chucked the venetian in. Looks shmick :)

Kid-Ae I found some brake hoses on eBay. Thanks for the tip. $60 for the pair delivered. That's cheaper than everywhere else I've gotta price from so might just do that. I might put a wanted ad up first incase someones got a good 2nd hand set laying around.

Anyone got any tips on a good place to get a rubber steering rack end boot from?

Thanks to Ben-89 for the indicator lens too. Was good to chat again, see ya soon.

Rack end boot.. Try eBay once again, if not, even a trip down to the wreckers can occasionally find you non perished items like this. Spare parts places may have NOS items, though you may be disheartened at the price.

I'm located in Croydon, about an hour east of you mate, but happy to lend a hand. You can help me set fire to my ute so insurance pays out enough to buy me a Corolla ;)

Did a little work on the car today, pretty frustrating tho..

Couldn't get the strut nut off the strut top, shock shaft just kept spinning, tried with wheels on the ground etc. Will try a few things tomorrow.

Also couldn't get the tie rod off the rack end to change the rack boot. Might have to get some new vise grips, mine are rubbish.

FYI I ended up getting brake hoses from Better Brakes in Bayswater, $35 each, were on shelf. Also got the rack boot from repco which was easy.

Get yourself some vice grips ;)

But be careful you don't want to ruin the shocks by scratching/engraving the shit out of them.
