B.L.Z.BUB Posted March 23, 2012 Report Posted March 23, 2012 (edited) We all want you to come and enjoy this site. I am not a mod, these are my own opinions and tips. Ettiquite: Respect, being polite, asking nice. Easy ways to get answers you want. Doing at least a few minutes research on Google before you ask questions, asking questions with at least an idea of what you want help for is gold to people who want to help. Yes we understand you are on your phone most of the time, and that phone lingo is the easiest way to write SMS's on a keyed phone. This is not a phone web site. While your friends may be able to understand your 'hy m8 cn i gt ur phn numbr so i cn go2 th playce' SMS messages, a forum is not the place for these kinds of topics. I'm not making this a spelling debate, its just a courtesy for everyone who wants to help to be able to read what you are writing. While I have grown up with lol-speak you will find most of the people who have the best advice do not/wont tolerate it. If you can't spell, blame the system but at least try :y: The best way to get answers = easy to read questions that are well defined. Bumping 'For Sale' threads: I know to most members that 'bumping' is understood but I remember when I first hit a forum I had no idea. When you post a topic it goes to the top of the particular section it is posted in. So if you post a car for sale it will be at the top of the 'cars for sale' section. When you add a reply to that sale thread it automatically 'bumps' the topic to the top of the list. The mods have set a 'bump' limit of 72 hours (three days). If you reply to your topic within this time your thread may be locked which means you cannot add info nor can people reply to it. This means: No adding ' Oh by the way it has tyres' No adding 'Forgot to mention it has tyres' No adding 'The tyres are black' If you need to add information before the 72 hours you can: Edit your post: Go to your post and hit the edit button If you just want to change the body of the message you can do so now. If you want to change the title of the thread you hit the full editor button. Selling stuff: PUT A PRICE, ITS EITHER FOR SALE OR IT ISNT A: Put it in the right section. There are pretty well defined places for everything. This is not a rule but seeing as a lot of people use this website on their phones its a good idea to say where your items are in the description. On the website you can see it but on the mobile site the location isn't viewable. If you are hunting for parts please for the love of FSM check when the post was last active. Even on your mobile you can see when the post was last bumped. If its over 3 months old it may be worth sending the OP a PM instead of replying to the topic. (I've seen 5 year old sale threads replied to). Adding photos. On your mobile phone there are plenty of apps where you can upload pictures and post links to them. A picture says a thousand words. When you are starting or replying to a topic and you want to add a picture: If you are doing a quick reply you must hit the full editor button. Then you must click the 'Click to attch files button'. Then you will get a list on the right> (says add to post) When they are uploaded place your screen cursor in the body of your thread where you want the picture to be then click 'Add to p[ost". The number of threads I see with this crap is frustrating: If you want your threads to have ANY longevity don't USE PHOTOBUCKET! It was getting so bad at one point I considered creating a bot to find photobucket links, downloading the image to our own server and replacing the photobucket links with something that'd last more than 3 months. Otherwise good guide Reed. You might have to update some of the screenshots when the forum software gets upgraded though. Quote
B.L.Z.BUB Posted March 24, 2012 Author Report Posted March 24, 2012 (edited) http://imgur.com/ total win, and there is an android/iPhone app. No worries Ben I'll keep it updated and add some more stuff as I go. Edited March 24, 2012 by B.L.Z.BUB Quote

altezzaclub Posted March 24, 2012 Report Posted March 24, 2012 or is that noob tube Nah- the Noob Tube is the semi-auto sniper rifle in CS.. I thought Photobucket had a time limit that you had to visit your account within, and also a maximum size that your account could reach and still be free. Having had a look over it just now I can't find any reference to either of those! Maybe they're dropped them. Anyone else want to check? Quote

I havn't had an issue with it aye, and its all I use on another forum cause they don't let you embed images and none of the photos I've put up have come up with that image, maybe nobody cares what I put up or they have changed it but it is one of the easiest ways to upload pics off a mobile Quote
