jordan101 Posted March 14, 2012 Report Posted March 14, 2012 My car's got 300+ km's on it, so I'd like to clean the injectors. I don't want to remove them and risk damaging them. I've read a lot about people putting different additives in the tank to help clean them. Just wondering what people on here have tried and results. Pro's and con's of going this route instead of pulling them out. thanks guys Jordan Quote
ke70dave Posted March 14, 2012 Report Posted March 14, 2012 con, it is a waste of money on aditive. pro, i see none. you wont damage them......just becareful, especailly the plugs, they can be very brittle. what makes you think the injectors need a clean? Quote
jordan101 Posted March 14, 2012 Author Report Posted March 14, 2012 the car revs pretty well it just idles pretty low. It's probably something else but I thought I'd give them injectors a clean and get some new leads before i try anything else. The motor has quite a few K's so I thought i may aswell clean them anyway to get rid of 27 years of gunk in the injectors Quote
parrot Posted March 14, 2012 Report Posted March 14, 2012 Subaru gave me a bottle to stick in the tank a couple of months after it's 6 months service. who knows why, anyway I poured it in. If you get them professionally cleaned off the car, they will give you new seals and vibration seats which is a good idea. Old rubber seats will be shagged. Quote
altezzaclub Posted March 14, 2012 Report Posted March 14, 2012 I don't think the injector cleaners do much, the tar is very hard to dissolve. I made a good one while I was chemist at CRC in Auckland, but sadly..... ..... it dissolved the plastic bottles! :laff: The Subaru one has a good reputation. Quote
ke70dave Posted March 14, 2012 Report Posted March 14, 2012 i have also heard good things about the subaru stuff. but in the end nothign beats getting them professionally cleaned, you can watch them spraying, make sure the spray pattern is good. and as parrott sais, new seals all round makes for happy injectors. oldie Posted March 15, 2012 Report Posted March 15, 2012 Lube Mobile used to offer an injector cleaning service on car where they would disconnect the fuel supply and feed through some sort of cleaner from a pressurised system that they had on board their truck, don't know how good it is or if they still do it but you could ask if you were interested.. Was about to say - you can get them professionally without removing them...... But I concur with dave. Quote
