hey guys I'm new to the site and just got a t18 with a 16v redtop and have a few questions about it.

 

i have a ticking noise when eva i accerlate. is that normal or is there something rong??

what should the idil revs be for it??

and what is the aver temputure for the water and also the oil presuure in the engin??

Ticking noise from.....where? :blinks:

 

Idle for a 4AGE is ~850rpm, model/transmission depending.

 

Oil pressure (engine at operating temperature) should be 30kpa (minimum) at idle & 250 to 490kpa at 3000rpm. Coolant temperature, NFI, too many variables but apparently the thermostat opens at 82 degrees celcius.

Broken ring on a piston. It fails to hold the piston steady and you are hearing the tick of the pston slapping in the bore as it changes direction.

 

Otherwise we need more info about what happens to the tick when it idles, (could be tappet) or the timing.(could be pinking)

 

..and we need it in English.
