Parents said I may be able to get a respray when it's tax time but I want it matte (not sure what color)

Anyone know how much the cost would be roughly?

And just what are people's thoughts overall, because I like the yellow and you don't really see that many anymore

Thanks guys

export paint is 4 cans for $10 bucks at supercheap mate.

i reckon you could do a whole car for $50 :-D

or a proper 'out of the gun' job for around $200

gotta make sure the body is straight as, or you'll see any imperfection

ask B.L.Z BUB he has done his old ke army green and flat black, he used a spray gun on his car when he did the green and it came up awesome!!!!

i used to have a flat black ke70 too painted using export cans, it looked like a hunk of shit, nice for about 2 days then turned to shit, i was pissed off, although with the right prep work a matte/flat paintjob can look wicked out of a can

That's one thing matt paint helps to hide. It will probably cost the same as gloss paint, they just add matting agent to the paint.

Do you still want several coats? or is this just a graffiti can and run job?

Nope, From working with mine, Matte finish show's out scratches and dents a lot more than a gloss finish.. Besides maybe black.

If I get it done, it will be done by a shop, and prepped correctly etc.

So any idea on cost?

i found shops don't like to just spray it if uve prepd it.. but sayin that ive found a few place's willin to do so for around 2k.. with prep and body work was qouted a starting price of 4grand :glare: give back yarder a go :) I'm doin it

Satin is better IMO, and can look good if you do it yourself, even my floorpan that I painted black that had barely any prep actually looks quite good.

Will cost around 2k for a cheap one for a panel shop to do it or spend that money on a decent compressor and decent gun and paint is pretty cheap.

I chose a 2pac paint colour at my local paint shop, they put a flattening agent in it and I rolled the paint on unisg a mirofibre roller.

If you get the paint to thinner ratio right its a cheap, easy, clean way to paint your car matte.

All up cost me $180 and i had heaps of paint left.

in my one experience of painting a car using a spray gun and compressor...

the actual spray painting part is easy as to get a half decent finish, bit of practise on a few old panels, and my mate and I just had a go at the car, and it came out pretty good. just go slow, take your time, don't be afraid to waste a bit of paint practising.

sure my job wasnt perfect, but it was blue, no runs, very shiny (from the ~6 coats of clear coat), and not bad for a first go by complete amateurs.

so don't stuff around with spray cans, a remotely decent gun will cost you ~$80, borrow a compressor from someone (even a hire mob may charge you $100 for a week for a huge compressor).

the problem is, the better job you do with the painting, the more imperfections will stand out. and boy do they stand out. if you can see an imperfection with no paint on, it will be 500x worse with paint on.

colour choice is purely personal, matte looks VERY tacky unless it is done perfectly. which unfortunately none of them ever are. i think the rumour is that to get a perfect matte job, is alot harder than getting a perfect 'ordinary' shiny job. unconfirmed, but i tend belive it.

total spray job cost was about $300 (excluding compressor)
