hi all bought a rolla bout a week ago

was only going to use it as a daily but that changed pretty quick

so now I'm building a budget drift car

it kinda has alotta rust in it

i worked all yesterday to tear out as much as possible started at 7 finished at 9

there was a complete dash here before the next thing to go is the whole a/c unit

all but one seat gone, bumpers removed, tore out all unless wiring

was thinking bout putting a evo engine in it if i can get 1 cheap enough, though I'm getting some input from others bout an engine convertion

Can get 180rwkw out of a 4AGTE. Would be a handful in a KE70.

A cammed 5k with a Webber ported head and full exhaust should make for a cheap drifter for a tight track, the rest will be upto speed and how big your balls are,

 

Btw how big is your budget..... you could get away with a 4age conversion doing most of the stuff yourself, except wiring unless your an auto sparky for $5-$6,000 then, once thats running fine it will be a 'budget' drifter

my budget is real small so I'm kinda trolling wreckers for cheap/free parts but i can spend bout 4-5000 on it at most

i was just thinking of getting a half-cut and useing everything off that but I'm just a bit shy on the price of them

thinking bout maybe a sw20 or ca18det if i can get them for a decent price

I have picked up many ca's for like $100 haha, so you can get them cheap enough, you just gotta look around for awhile and make sure you make your mind up on a definate engine.

 

A Ca or Sr half cut would be good for a conversion and you could sell a lot of things and make some cash back, the motor part won't be that hard cause a million people have put sr's and ca's into keto's and there is a heap of info on this site to help, but you also have to look at brakes then suspension, tailshaft, fuel system

 

for a ca18det conversion your looking at about $10,000 doing most of it yourself and finding shit cheap as chips, your much better of doing a 4age conversion cause they are a lot easier to do and can be turbo'd with minimal hassles

Well lets see so far what ive sold from the T18 the shell would have cost me $1000 (very good shell for the age)

Suspension and brakes would have cost about 3k (all suspension inc swaybars ect)

wheels about $800

Engine (1UZFE V8) was FREE! but only because I bought a whole car and parted it out took alot of time to end up getting the engine for free

Gearbox setup will end up being about 2.5K (this engine never came out manual and requires custom parts)

Bigger diff $500

Paint and panel work - $200

Miscellaneous - 1k

 

So that is a basic rundown of what it has cost me so far and that probably not all of it but already up to about 10K and that is only because every single thing I have done and can do myself, so if you need to get something welded it will cost even more, cars are not a cheap hobby.

 

I would recommend buying one that has a 4age in it or something can pick them up pretty cheap, because that rust looks pretty bad unless you got the car for free?
