love ke70 Posted January 8, 2006 Report Posted January 8, 2006 bah i ahve gas....well the tank, and the carb....the car will be ready to start soon, then i have to work out how to get some gas in the tank...eeek gas is a good stepping stone, cheap and low emissions :rocknroll: Thats like saying 8 second drag cars that run on combustion engines are useless on the road i.e. well, duh yes, but they can run for longer, they just can't turn or maintain a nice speed, but the electric cars die Quote
rjenman Posted January 8, 2006 Report Posted January 8, 2006 Yeah bad example, I was just saying that drag electric cars aren't built for the road... I actually have no idea whether you could make a quick road car using technology from drag electric cars.. but this has definately brightened my hopes! I was a bit upset when I realised that electric cars aren't going to be able to go as well as F1 cars, V8 supercars, drift cars! I heard in a documentary that at the moment... it takes more energy to create gas than the amount of energy that u get out of gas :rocknroll: Environmentally friendly and all Quote
love ke70 Posted January 8, 2006 Report Posted January 8, 2006 yeah i knew ur point, but i just thought it should be mentioned that often people think wow 8 second pass why arnt they on the street, and thats because the biggest problem is storing enough energy more energy to create or to extract? coz if theyre talkin create, like deep down under the ground in huge heat and pressure then thats hardly surprising Quote
TOMsGPTurbo Posted January 8, 2006 Author Report Posted January 8, 2006 I'm trying to find some info on a pic I saw of an electric car, it was during that NZ race to the sky rally, it sorta looked like a le-man car and the caption was saying something about how it couldn't be classified as it was running a electric engine. Imaging the tuning possiblities of an electric engine, how you can tune your power curve for what rpm you want.... exciting stuff :rocknroll: Quote
love ke70 Posted January 8, 2006 Report Posted January 8, 2006 it is exciting, but also very under-developed, all in time something will come from it Quote
rjenman Posted January 9, 2006 Report Posted January 9, 2006 yeah i knew ur point, but i just thought it should be mentioned that often people think wow 8 second pass why arnt they on the street, and thats because the biggest problem is storing enough energymore energy to create or to extract? coz if theyre talkin create, like deep down under the ground in huge heat and pressure then thats hardly surprising apparently it just takes more power to get the gas obtained and ready to pump into your vehicle than the power u can get out of the finished product... i.e. overall its a negative process to do Quote
love ke70 Posted January 9, 2006 Report Posted January 9, 2006 hmm, thats interesting...spose they do have to drill big holes to get to it, plus its just a by product from oil extraction i never knew that tho and i did a chem assignment on natural gas :rocknroll: Quote
