jordan101 Posted February 13, 2012 Report Posted February 13, 2012 just picked this RT142 up on sat, should hopefully get a RWC done this thursday coming and if all goes well have rego done by next week. 310,*** km, 2.4 EFI, Very clean interior, run's very well. Paint's a bit rough on the roof and bootlid but no rust except for a little bit (that i can see) under the front passenger on the car body. Will most likely need some parts for it but it's going to have to be a slow project as i'm at tafe full time and work only part time. My plans are (once RWC and rego are done) get some period-style roofracks, roof spoiler/lip, roll the guards and hopefully fit 15 x 8 gold centre with polished lip (not too sure on offset, as long as they've got plenty of dish) with a bit of tyre stretch. I'm really into the Jap style but don't want to follow the "JDM" trend, i like doing stuff my own style. Not going to spray it, just a few touch ups here and there and that's about it so far. May do an exhaust and intake but that's all later on. p.s sorry about shit quality photos they're taken from my phone i'll try get some better ones soon. Quote
LukeAE71 Posted February 13, 2012 Report Posted February 13, 2012 These things are great - an underestimated car for sure! Quote
jordan101 Posted February 13, 2012 Author Report Posted February 13, 2012 thanks mate! they really are! been looking for something of this style for a good while so when this one popped up i bought it straight away Quote
Onikage Posted February 14, 2012 Report Posted February 14, 2012 Nice find, not many of these are spotted on the roads anymore in decent nick, particularly 2.4L 5 speed models. So your plan is JDM, without all the stickers and in your face mods? Quote
jordan101 Posted February 14, 2012 Author Report Posted February 14, 2012 my plan is too keep it simple and clean, just with some deep dish rims and lowered but the more i look and work on the car the more i realise how good it actually is, it's almost a shame to change anything about it as it's so clean and original :S Quote
Oh-KE Posted February 14, 2012 Report Posted February 14, 2012 Nice one mate. I like the plans, if your worried just make sure you only do things that can be undone. Should be sweet. Enjoy! Quote
jordan101 Posted February 14, 2012 Author Report Posted February 14, 2012 yeah just doing bolt on's, nothing that can't be changed. hanging to get this RWC done so i can hurry up and start modifying it haha Quote
jordan101 Posted February 15, 2012 Author Report Posted February 15, 2012 took it for a quick spin just before, felt a little knocking feel/sound around the front passenger side tyre. pulled it off took the wheel off had a look around couldn't find anything so i tightened it all back up and took it for another drive, any ideas? i'm think ball joints, going for RWC tomorrow i'll see what the mechanic tells me Quote
jordan101 Posted February 25, 2012 Author Report Posted February 25, 2012 progress has been slow between work and tafe but finally got the RWC done! Replaced bushes, discs, passenger inner rack end and few other little bits and pieces to make the mechanic happy. The front end is still knocking so that's next on my list. I'm going to make a little JDM style lower front lip at tafe from sheet metal and either matte black it or stone guard it just to see how it looks, if it looks shit I just won't use it. I'd like to to get a new head unit and some speakers in it too just need to sus out what i need and where i can put it. Just want run the speakers straight from my head unit don't want an amp. I've also included a picture of some piping i found at bunnings that I may use for a pipe from the airbox to an open air source, comes in 50, 65 and 100mm may just use the 65mm with some sort of filter.
