Hi, i need some help with engine numbers:

I know all the first ones, eg 3S-GE

3= 3rd vr

S= block

G= cam (either wide or twin)

E= efi

But what about the other numbers that come after, do they mean anything?

eg: "UG4HFM551628" is quoted as an engine number, any ideas what this comes off/after?

Thanks a lot, this is very important!

yes :D

poorly listed ad's my friend :y:

don't worry, i take it they following numbers mean nothing. Ill jsut have to go inspect the good my self...

Although, does anyone know if the cc on the rego papers is 100% correct? Or is is jsut estimated? EG: Mechanic - "Wells its about 2ltr, ill jsut write 1997cc", or do they find the engine number and say "3S-GE, well thats acctually 1998cc". ??

Its an engine only, if i knew what car it was out of id know the engine, but i assume (hope) its a 3S-GE, so can u jsut try ST161 (celica)?

Will any ST161's vin number do?

Thanks,

i know it isnt exactly what you were after but ive found this site to help out sometimes when i don't know something about an engine. its only simple stuff but you get that i also have never seen a site with so many diff engines specs on one page.

admin should put it in the wiki or something i think, will help out other people.
