azzy_10 Posted February 7, 2012 Report Posted February 7, 2012 i got the problem my calipers hit my wheels the problem area in red. Quote
Jono.C Posted February 7, 2012 Report Posted February 7, 2012 You could shave them down if there's enough metal. But, You could also just run a 3 or 5mm slip on spacer to push the wheels out a bit, if you have stepped lips on the back of your rims that may be enough to fix it. Quote
azzy_10 Posted February 7, 2012 Author Report Posted February 7, 2012 yeah I'm guna get the flap disc on the grinder and just take some back off i recon Quote
FOOMAN Posted February 7, 2012 Report Posted February 7, 2012 I've got the same problem on my ke30, I just bought a pair of 5mm spacers, although I should've got 10mm. Otherwise just get out the old angle grinder and shave off a few Mm. Quote
azzy_10 Posted February 11, 2012 Author Report Posted February 11, 2012 yeah its a pain in the ass Quote
coln72 Posted February 11, 2012 Report Posted February 11, 2012 Buy a set of wheels that fit. Hate to be in a serious accident and when investigated, it is found that you have ground the calipers down...... Also, arent spacers also illegal????? Quote
Willis Posted February 11, 2012 Report Posted February 11, 2012 Yeah, I think they are illegal but it's a quick, easy "fix". Buying wheels with the right offset helps...but in the meantime. Quote
azzy_10 Posted February 11, 2012 Author Report Posted February 11, 2012 yeah well would have helped if i knew the off set i bought 13x6.5 jelly beans Quote
coln72 Posted February 11, 2012 Report Posted February 11, 2012 Thats why I always trial fitted wheels before parting with my hard earned cash. Quote
azzy_10 Posted February 12, 2012 Author Report Posted February 12, 2012 couldnt have done that the car isnt regoed. but i getting them milled 5mm on the problem area and mayve recon Quote
styler Posted February 12, 2012 Report Posted February 12, 2012 Check if theres other caliper types fitted to your car from factory, they may be more compact, get a set and swap them over or upgrade to later model calipers. Quote
FOOMAN Posted February 15, 2012 Report Posted February 15, 2012 Spacers are legal if you get the bolt on ones. But those are generally bigger than 1cm. Quote
Andy43 Posted February 16, 2012 Report Posted February 16, 2012 This is not uncommon. 3 options. Replace the jap calipers for the aussie one's. (This is the perferered option) Grind about 2mm off the caliper where it touches. (I have this done to my road car will cause you no problems) Extend the wheel studs, fit a spacer and while your there get a strut bend to give you some neg camber. CYA Andy Quote
