ke11restorer Posted February 21, 2012 Report Posted February 21, 2012 Who actually has one of these heads? Take it to China Profit? 1 Quote
altezzaclub Posted February 21, 2012 Report Posted February 21, 2012 $70,000 for the motor.. how much for the head do you reckon?? The block/crank/pistons are common, so a lot fo that must be just for the head. Ask the Pinas we have on here, there are half a dozen members from up there I think. They can take a look for you, & I expect they already know of those motors. Quote
parrot Posted February 21, 2012 Report Posted February 21, 2012 Everyone wants one, but I would be wary of scammers. I know there was a scammer selling these things on the net a while back, had some photos of some motors he was using to presell then never deliver them to overseas customers. There were some major issues if I remember correctly. Rocking horse poo just doesnt become available all of a sudden. Exactly, but let the buyer beware. Quote
benhachi Posted July 28, 2012 Report Posted July 28, 2012 (edited) I'd be keen if it all works out and it's under 5 grand :) Not likely lol and you have to deliver it personally haha Edited July 28, 2012 by benhachi Quote
flyinwall Posted July 28, 2012 Report Posted July 28, 2012 id rather destroke and turbo an old bmw 2002 motor hehehe 1 Quote
snot35 Posted July 28, 2012 Report Posted July 28, 2012 (edited) Now you're talking. We definitely need 1500hp for qualifying :D Actually, that reminds me of a doco I saw about Cosworth building their F1 engine. They were trying to run up a Ford 4 banger of some sort with a big turbo on it on the dyno to check if it would be viable as an F1 engine. It was probably the same block series as their BD motors. Anyway, the thing made it to 11,000 on some unspecified amount of boost before it went pop. So these things are possible if you have the money skills and know how. altezzaclub Posted July 29, 2012 Report Posted July 29, 2012 good to know someone else knew about the power output of the bmw motor Is that the one where you could see the head lift on the dyno? Quote
flyinwall Posted July 29, 2012 Report Posted July 29, 2012 Is that the one where you could see the head lift on the dyno? i didnt see that one ill have to have a look for it i read a writeup about them a few years ago Quote
Steve M Posted August 16, 2012 Report Posted August 16, 2012 If it was set up with readily available parts, e.g. valves, springs etc from a production engine, then I'd potentially be interested. Quote
LittleRedSpirit Posted September 16, 2012 Report Posted September 16, 2012 http://www.motorsport-sales.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=312 Heres one for sale from a legit shop in the UK. Got a spare 32000 pounds? Quote
parrot Posted September 16, 2012 Report Posted September 16, 2012 Anyone with an acount appears to be able to place an ad. Note, it is said to be in the Phillipines, not the UK. Not suggesting it's anything but legitimite mind. Quote
irokin Posted September 16, 2012 Report Posted September 16, 2012 Note, it is said to be in the Phillipines, not the UK. Yep, its the same one that's been floating around for ages. Quote
snot35 Posted September 16, 2012 Report Posted September 16, 2012 You'd think if you're advertising for that sort of money you could put up pictures better than those from a mobile phone :P Quote
