yeh i will more than likly get acrylic.

 

my dad says i only need to sand back the paint with wet and dry just get the gloss out and then go straight on with paint not primer? can i do this or will i have to use primer?

ah wait..

 

i re read.

 

i sanded back the standard paint, fixed a few dents (With bog), then sprayed down a primer, then colour.

 

you are supposed to put spray putty down on before the primer..but we couldnt be stuffed.

Definitely do a primer coat. We did a backyard job on mine, turned out pretty average so a year or so later we had another attempt, without a primer because it was just going over the top and it was m.int! Perfect gloss over the whole car using acrylic but after a few days curing the top coat soaked down into our older paint and it now has little rough patches all over the car.......... attempt no. 3 will be done sometime but i don't want touch the paint for another year or two i hate it.

 

That was using acrylic too. A lot easier to work with, and you can sand it back and polish it up a lot easier, but for the long term you can't beat two pac especially if you have access to a spray booth
