RA28GT Posted February 8, 2012 Report Posted February 8, 2012 Yep not legal. Unless they are spring mounted(so they fall away if you hit someone) and can be adjusted from drivers seat(need to be electric). DR30 import skylines have electric fender mirrors. Last set I saw was on yahoo Japan for around $250. Which is less headache than clearing a defect. Stu. You'll find that there not legal at all unfortunantly. Even with springs mounts and electrics, well at least in SA. Quote
Rollajones Posted February 10, 2012 Author Report Posted February 10, 2012 i have a few mates with fender mirrors and no one has ever said anything.. but they could just be lucky! still waiting to decide.. Quote

Realistically you will be targeted for other things first. Too low, rims to wide etc before they pick on finder mirrors. Quote
Redwarf Posted February 10, 2012 Report Posted February 10, 2012 ^^^^ True, but it's also a "Get out of Jail free" card for your insurance company as well. Quote
BReNt Posted February 11, 2012 Report Posted February 11, 2012 One of my cars passed a roadworthy inspection with fender mirrors. Lol. Quote
mattress Posted February 11, 2012 Report Posted February 11, 2012 (edited) What if the vehicle was factory fitted with fender mirrors? I tend to see a lot of old men in old hilux utes with fender mirrors. I'd nearly bet my left nut they bought the vehicle new with fender mirrors and aren't rad fan boys. Redwarf Posted February 11, 2012 Report Posted February 11, 2012 Per the regulations, if it came out with it in Australia back in the day, you're all good. Which some, particularly commercials, did. If you're looking to fit them to your KE, theoretically you're shit out of luck. Quote
DZach23 Posted February 11, 2012 Report Posted February 11, 2012 (edited) Not to change directions but still on topic "fender mirror help" and probably better then starting a new topic but Could you mount this sort of fender mirror in the stock position on the doors of a 30/55 corolla? and they still be usable? Rollajones Posted February 15, 2012 Author Report Posted February 15, 2012 Is there a specific place they have to be mounted? (any measurements would be great) Or do I have to wing it from looking at pictures? Quote
mattress Posted February 16, 2012 Report Posted February 16, 2012 Redwarf, were any corollas in Australia fitted with them? The reason I ask is that i've seen a very old picture of a KE10 in Australia fitted with fender mirrors. Possibly factory fitted and legal? Quote
01sik Posted February 16, 2012 Report Posted February 16, 2012 if you like them put them on dude, iv been pulled over heaps for rbt's and such and none of the cops have said anything about the fender mirror and ive even pulled off the factory mirror off the door Quote

B.L.Z.BUB Posted February 16, 2012 Report Posted February 16, 2012 (edited) Most seem to be mounted directly above where the crease here stops at the guard. Should be easy enough to browse some google images and figure it out. https://www.google.com/search?q=ke70+fender+mirrors&oe=utf-8&um=1&ie=UTF-8&hl=en&tbm=isch&source=og&sa=N&tab=wi&ei=vOk8T-H1GcHZiALv3IGYAQ&biw=1366&bih=643&sei=v-k8T-r1OYbNmAWe6JHQBw Edited February 16, 2012 by B.L.Z.BUB Quote
