phil86 Posted January 30, 2012 Report Posted January 30, 2012 Hi I'm putting s tacho into my ke70 and I'm just wondering if any tacho will work? I'm looking at an auto meter sport comp but it has a whole bunch of wires but I thought only like 3 or 4 wires were needed? Earth, accessories and the "signal" that actually tells the tacho the revs (don't know if it's actually called the signal but yea). If I'm correct all of those wires are already at the back of the dash ie. I don't need to run new wires do I? Quote
ke70dave Posted January 30, 2012 Report Posted January 30, 2012 yeah the wires are at the back. to run an aftermarket tacho i belive you will need the following: -ignition +12V -Ground (bolt to chassis somewhere, or piggy back of something else) -dash lights +12, piggy back off something else for this -signal - this is a single wire, that eventually connects directly to the negative side of the coil. there is a multi pin plug in the back of the ke70 dash which has this already, but i can't recall which one it is...it might be written on the circuit board of the dash cluster, or you might have to get out the multi meter. note, the aftermarket tacho may come with a heap of signal wires, this is for if you have multiple coils, but the ke70 only has 1 coil. phil86 Posted January 30, 2012 Author Report Posted January 30, 2012 Thanks Dave I did find a tech thing on here which explains what wires do that's fine. You have answered my question well, cheers Quote
rolla van man Posted February 3, 2012 Report Posted February 3, 2012 When i put my monster hectometer in it was eath, constant power and the signal wore to the negative side of te coil :) Quote
scottiriver Posted February 3, 2012 Report Posted February 3, 2012 have u considered a tachodash for a ke70, they just plug in and work :) Quote
altezzaclub Posted February 3, 2012 Report Posted February 3, 2012 That's what we did Scotti, plugged it in and it all worked, so all the wirng must be in the dash loomb. Quote
B.L.Z.BUB Posted February 3, 2012 Report Posted February 3, 2012 Black wire RHS plug closest to drivers window looking at the dash. Quote
