diegoh Posted January 26, 2012 Report Posted January 26, 2012 FOund these which are pretty cheap compared to Toyota Parts dealership and reason why they are not as good since they have the same valves and the micron rating is the same or worse? http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/OIL-FILTER-51394-TOYOTA-80-07-CAMRY-COROLLA-QTY-12-/120251950679?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item1bff932657 your opinions please?! B.L.Z.BUB Posted January 26, 2012 Report Posted January 26, 2012 (edited) They're K motors. Unless you've built it borderline about to explode you could use a jam jar with a rag in it as a filter. Plus non toyota ones from Repco are like 10(?) bucks. Edited January 26, 2012 by B.L.Z.BUB 1 Quote
diegoh Posted January 26, 2012 Author Report Posted January 26, 2012 ;) bullet proof they are but noticed using cheap filters the engine oil light takes longer when starting up due to the checkvalve been better on Toyota filters from factory. My old 4kc is still going using factory filters just had HG changed at 420,000 with hone marks still good, good comp and now just over 600,000klms for the old tractor :)) Quote
altezzaclub Posted January 26, 2012 Report Posted January 26, 2012 This might help you- http://minimopar.knizefamily.net/oilfilters/reference.html I wouldn't use aftermarket filters on anything I value, so the Altezza and KE70 get Toyota only, and the Pintara gets a toilet roll in a baked bean can! canna Posted January 26, 2012 Report Posted January 26, 2012 Can you orders these in from sprints auto, supercheap auto. Or do you have to go to a toyota dealer to get them? Quote
altezzaclub Posted January 26, 2012 Report Posted January 26, 2012 If you mean the Toyota filters, they are straight from a Toyota dealer or any helpful member of Rollaclub who works at Toyota... i bought half a dozen from one of our members after the oil filter on the car (covered in Japanese writing) let the filter drain each night. That marked the bearings as it filled up every morning with no oil pressure and eventually I replaced the bearings. Quote
Ben-89 Posted January 26, 2012 Report Posted January 26, 2012 (edited) I had a similiar issue when using a ryco oil filter on the ke70, the oil light would stay on just those few extra seconds when starting hot/cold. Then I inquired at my nearest dealer about a genuine unit and was told there were two types. One being the (90915yzze1) made in Thailand - this filter is a small unit but is applicable to the 4k. Price was $18.00 give or take.. I still bought it as it could be put on a ae92 which I also have.. Then there is the large type filter produced in Japan for $21.00 or so which I have put on and since then the oil light only flashes on cold/hot starts. But I think even if you went with the samller 90915yzze1 it would do a fine job on the 4k anyhow and be slightly cheaper:y: Ebay link to a bulk purchase: While the listing dosent say 4k or 5k it says so on the box.. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/90915-YZZE1-Genuine-Toyota-Oil-Filter-X10-Camry-Corolla-/380339938732?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item588e06e5ac EDIT: Photos of the yzze1, 4 and 5k compatible. altezzaclub Posted January 26, 2012 Report Posted January 26, 2012 (edited) I bought half a dozen (90915 YZZD2) 90915-10003 so they must be the option. Maybe we can start a Group-buy from a mechanic/sales rep on here. Edit- (The YZZD2 is for the Altezza/Celica, I grabbed from the wrong pile in the garage!) Redwarf Posted January 26, 2012 Report Posted January 26, 2012 *Shrug* I always used to use Ryco Z9's on the 3K. Quote
19914afc Posted January 26, 2012 Report Posted January 26, 2012 Anyone in brisbane PM me if you need genuine oil filters a E1 is about $12 I think to me a D2 that I used on my 3t was about $14 maybe couple of bucks more not sure. If you want me to get some would probably be better off getting a few at once. Quote
altezzaclub Posted January 26, 2012 Report Posted January 26, 2012 Thanks Jake- do you want to start a new goup-buy thread for them?? Everyone in the club needs them, and I'll need more in a year or 18months. Quote

altezzaclub Posted January 27, 2012 Report Posted January 27, 2012 Noo!! ! I'm afraid I grabbed the wrong one off the shelf last night! The YZZD2 is for my Altezza, the 4K ones I have are 90915-10003, for 4K and 5K series. I'll go back up and edit my earlier post. Quote
