Biggo Posted March 18, 2006 Author Report Posted March 18, 2006 (edited) Thanks to Jason for the suggestion, but unfortunatley it wont work. I have a spare intank pump which i would have hacked up the original pickup but alas, the damn thing is too big to fit inside the damn hole. Heres a few pics: My tank showing the difference in sizes of the collars and heres an 86 tank (with external pump) Thanks to Phirom for the pic Notice that my 7mgte pump will drop straight into an 86 tank!! Meh...this should be in the faq hehe :D Edited March 18, 2006 by Biggo Quote
Teddy Posted March 18, 2006 Report Posted March 18, 2006 Mate... coming from someone who works on cars every day of his life, if you leave the fuel filter there, $10 on the table, that you'll be cursing when it comes time to change it later on down the track. Thats assuming that the fuel filter fits in that position & doesn't smack up against the back left of the ke70's underside boot-well area when you put the tank back into the car. I don't know about you, but i don't wanta drop a fuel tank for a filter! :D Quote
Biggo Posted March 18, 2006 Author Report Posted March 18, 2006 ahh... so what do i use instead then? Besides the actuall pump wont even fit thru the hole. BTW, the tank has the odd dirt/rust particle in it so i don't wanna ditch the filter completely. Quote
Jason Posted March 18, 2006 Report Posted March 18, 2006 ill be mounting my prefilter next to my surge tank, then another in the bay, no need to hide it. :D If you mounting it in the boot (like me) it just need to be separate from the cabin so it's in the boot, and secure and vented. I'm taking some piping with a fan from the vents on the side. Hope this helps Quote
Biggo Posted March 18, 2006 Author Report Posted March 18, 2006 Ahhh, i see now, i'll just use the stocko toyota ones from the aw11. Seems to be an inline one(a big one at that) and mounting it just befor the fuel rail in the engine bay. Quote
Teddy Posted March 18, 2006 Report Posted March 18, 2006 just remove the filter from that position, and put 1 or 2 of them where its more accessiable ? as for the pump.. Re: Jason. :D Quote
Biggo Posted March 18, 2006 Author Report Posted March 18, 2006 :D Ive just made an interesting note on my ic. Apparenly the later ae92 gze's had a 12 row one whereas my aw11 is an 18 row ;) also found this funny pic Oh and Ant has a spare fuel tank lying around so its all good now. Quote
Biggo Posted March 19, 2006 Author Report Posted March 19, 2006 Whoopee :D Radiator is now in, and the feelings fine ;) So happy bout the progress this wknd it looks like ill have a go at it again next week. Still waiting for Lawson to deleiver the goods (been 4 weeks now FFS!) Anywho, what do u all think of my N13 radiator in the 71? Looks like the were made for each other to me AND theres plenty of room for a thermo fan or 3 :D Opinions?? Quote
love ke70 Posted March 19, 2006 Report Posted March 19, 2006 makes my radiator look grotesquely large :D good work mate. need a bigger cooler tho ;) Quote
Biggo Posted March 19, 2006 Author Report Posted March 19, 2006 Pffftt, bigger cooler = more lag so thats out. Anywhat, shes almost finished, just gotta do a few bits and bobs and sort out the fuel system (find the parts) and pipe/plumb/tube everything together. Then its wining time ......:D Quote
Clown Posted March 19, 2006 Report Posted March 19, 2006 I'm seconding the need for a bigger cooler. Quote
Biggo Posted March 20, 2006 Author Report Posted March 20, 2006 well ...........your dumb :D since its been frount mounted, theres probably 6 foot more of 2inch piping...do the maths. Anywhat, my strut brace arrived today ;) now i just need struts heh. Quote
Biggo Posted March 20, 2006 Author Report Posted March 20, 2006 Putting it into perspective then.... Clown owns "dumb" :D Quote
Rolla__Boy Posted March 20, 2006 Report Posted March 20, 2006 If you take a standard WRX, with top mount. And put a front mount, with obviously, longer piping, it will be just as responsive, make more power and more torque. It's not like people are suggesting you put a truck cooler the size of the whole front of your car, but a bigger cooler than the one you have will be fine. My friends KE30 4AGZE has a cooler about twice the size of that, front mounted, and his has zero lag. It's great to drive. Quote
