Biggo Posted April 16, 2006 Author Report Posted April 16, 2006 Well seems like ive been a bit dormant lately aye... New shit includes a T18 diff, some new shocks, motors complete just need to do the ic piping and feul system and ive started my brake conversion. YAY! My car now has hilux shocks in the rear, far right in the pic above (stock then commy then hilux). the result is something like this.... stock springs that have NOT been cut too :lolcry: keep in mind that the car is not rested yet. Shes up on bricks so I'm looking to get it a lil lower. seems like ive lost my pace lol, i can't even rember what i was gonna say i did now.... Quote
Biggo Posted April 16, 2006 Author Report Posted April 16, 2006 before: After: Also not theres a spirit wing group buy hence no wing in that pic Quote
born_rolla Posted May 7, 2006 Report Posted May 7, 2006 ohhh its coming along nicely.....is that rear coilovers i see :) Quote
Biggo Posted May 7, 2006 Author Report Posted May 7, 2006 haha i wish :) sadly no they arnt, that browny thing is just the bump stops which need cutting. It only had kabaya hilux front shocks in it and stocko springs. Pulled the t18 diff apart yesterday, best one ive seen EVER! Looks to have been rebuilt recently too as there is not a spot or metal particle anywhere and it has new NKS bearings. SCORE!!! Just needs some shoes and shell be fine. Also doin the interior, found the right wires for the guages now ;) not bad for picking wires at random while drunk aye. Also got some more goodies on the way, so shell be running soon hopefully :) Should have a daily driver sometime next week YAY! can't wait to own a car that actually runs for the first time in like 10 months :lolcry: Anyway enough from me, ive gotta figure out how to extend these indicators out so i can reach em. Steering wheels with 150mm extentions will do that :lolcry: Quote
born_rolla Posted May 7, 2006 Report Posted May 7, 2006 yes it is i aint ever seen a bump stop thats metal and shiny and wraped in a red spring befor? WDFBBQ Quote
love ke70 Posted May 7, 2006 Report Posted May 7, 2006 maybe, just maybe its for the front... i mean sure he said it isnt for the rear but hey, maybe hes lying :) Quote
Biggo Posted May 7, 2006 Author Report Posted May 7, 2006 hes lying :) ...and hes got ideas.... Quote
Paul Posted May 8, 2006 Report Posted May 8, 2006 So let me get this straight... ...The only thing u've done in the "lowering" in the above photo's on the rear of the car is replace the stock shock absorbers with (shorter) hilux jobbies and left the original springs in it (unchopped), and it's dropped that far??? Doesnt that compress the stock springs too much? Will be interesting to know how this rides. Quote
love ke70 Posted May 8, 2006 Report Posted May 8, 2006 have a look at the spring even now its being held squashed more by the shock theres still heaps of room between the coils so it shouldnt be too much of a prob :) it will ride like p00, just coz biggo is behind the wheel and he is a fewly hektik dorifto boi :) Quote
Paul Posted May 8, 2006 Report Posted May 8, 2006 I've heard of people using chopped falcon springs as an upgrade are you going to do this to avoid scrubbing? Reason I'm interested is i've got a basic idea of how i'm doing the front of my car but not the back yet. Quote
Biggo Posted May 9, 2006 Author Report Posted May 9, 2006 Yes, thats right, ive just left the original spring uncut and replaced the stock shocks with hilux ones. The reason? I want to pass roadworthy one day, and AFAIK copped springs are so not on :) As for the ride, methinks itll be overdampered :) But fear not, cos theres a suspension place around the corner so i'll scab some falcon springs one day......and maybe a few tyres to boot ;) Quote
Jason Posted May 9, 2006 Report Posted May 9, 2006 lolz I'm leaving in the stock back springs for RWC and thank the gods for hieght ajustable coilovers :) Quote
Tiger Posted May 26, 2006 Report Posted May 26, 2006 Update on this one dude? This thread I have been reading and it has interested me HEAPS on AE71s :( Quote
Biggo Posted May 26, 2006 Author Report Posted May 26, 2006 Wow, people are interested in my poopy project, how kind. Makes me warm and fuzzy inside and not to mention the competion with THAT holy grail (aka teddy's ke70 :( ) Anyway, ive got 2 bosch 070 pumps here waiting for a surge tank. As i knew sfa when i bought these pumps i was under the impression that one would feed the surge and one would supply the engine. Alas, AFAIK itd be a bit stick cos the feed is only as fast as the supply which is hardly benefical. If someone can tell me a vl commy pump runs a gze just fine then i think its all good, but ill probably go this route any way. Also got the dash out for fitting of the guages. OIl temp has replaced the clock and the pressure is goin in the radio hole thingo. Pity i broke the tinged cover tho  ummm, what else....well mostly ive been fixing up this shitter that nick sold me (hahaha jk mate) so every thing is on hold really. Ass soon as that project is out of the way and on the road ill be back to my old self making all these bits and bobs fit, namely the brake conversion. Place around the corner has a lathe so its no biggie AND ive found out how to adapt the rotors onto stock hubs!!!! OMFG!!!! HOOOOLLLLAYYYYY..... Anyway, Foxtail will be doin the wiring when its time and other than that its just the ic piping ($300 freaking worth of bends :worship: ) and got a qutoe for the exxy (jap bigport headers remeber) all up for under $350 with me supplying the cat. Any opinions are welcome fellas PS ive got a funny feeling about 4a engine mounts and a 3rz....will get around to it asap bwahahaha I'm so evil mwohohohahahaha......ill shuddup now :D Quote
love ke70 Posted May 26, 2006 Report Posted May 26, 2006 and you thought the 1g would be a boat anchor  300 for ya ic piping is good, i paid 875 for 2.5" ic piping and 3" exhaust piping when i supplied cooler and muffler, cooler already mounted too. i always thought you had a high volume low pressure lifter pump to feed the surge tank, then you had a efi fuel pump after the surge tank. i think :( keep goin biggo, you may catch up with my stupid 1ggte in peices on the floor :D Quote
