Mark90 Posted March 19, 2013 Report Posted March 19, 2013 Only took me a day to clean up my engine bay and paint the engine and stuff. Those plates are the only thing that hasn't been touched, didn't even think of them but you've just given me something to do this weekend. The wiper motor looks neat too! Quote
glenpos Posted March 19, 2013 Author Report Posted March 19, 2013 yeah wont take long, just gotta drive down the line about 1.5 hours so i can get the paint matched up, i'll get there eventually haha, hopefully in the next month, can't wait to start doing a few bits to it :y: Quote
glenpos Posted March 20, 2013 Author Report Posted March 20, 2013 well i finally fixed the flooding and flat spot it used to flood the manifold with petrol when you turn it off, then would take ages to start and was embarrassing, also had a flat spot at around 1200 rpm which was annoying, i replaced almost everything in the carb that was changeable, never made a difference, also tried a carb off my spare corona and still no change, then today i though i would put the carb of my original 2r that just has a touch smaller secondary throat, so i put it back together (had ratted it for bits) and put it on, starts first turn of the key and has no flat spot i drove the car around for a year like this, never put that carb on because it was a touch smaller.... :no2: and i put the black rocker cover on because the old carby has the throttle linkage holder on it, Â anyways here's a few pics. Â what I'm talking about... Â Â what are your thoughts on the black rocker cover? Â Quote
Mark90 Posted March 20, 2013 Report Posted March 20, 2013 Black looks decent, you need the side plate to be matching though. The colour scheme of your engine is a reverse of mine! I've got grey rocker cover and side plate, black block. Quote
glenpos Posted March 20, 2013 Author Report Posted March 20, 2013 yeah i want the head and block to be the same colour, and the rocker cover and side plate to be the same, but i'm just not sure how the block will look silver, and the car starts easy cold and just idles with no choke :) Quote
glenpos Posted March 21, 2013 Author Report Posted March 21, 2013 hello, been playing with my dash, repainting the silver bits :)  this is before   and after :D    now i'm thinking about painting around the guages too, what do you think, should i or will it look crap?  Quote
SimonM Posted March 21, 2013 Report Posted March 21, 2013 Looks good! Might be a good idea to try photoshopping it to see what it'll look like? What paint did you use? Mine could probably do with a touch up. Quote
glenpos Posted March 21, 2013 Author Report Posted March 21, 2013 yeah iv'e half done it now, i think it should look good when done, i just used a silver spray can, sprayed into the lid and put it on with the little white stick things with cotton tips, after a lite sand off Quote
glenpos Posted March 21, 2013 Author Report Posted March 21, 2013 well i did around the gauges, i think it looks good, and it actually looks better in real life too!  sorry about crap pics haha    i'm happy with it, just a little less plain in there now... Quote
SimonM Posted March 21, 2013 Report Posted March 21, 2013 Looks pretty snazzy! Might try it myself. Quote
glenpos Posted March 21, 2013 Author Report Posted March 21, 2013 haha thanks, and if you don't like it just sand it off, i was thinking of doing the line that goes around the whole dash but it looks too hard haha, i think it would be overkill anyways Quote
Mark90 Posted March 21, 2013 Report Posted March 21, 2013 Around the gauges was a great idea, bet your glad you tried it! Good work. Quote
glenpos Posted March 24, 2013 Author Report Posted March 24, 2013 thanks, yeah i'm happy with it :D Quote
SimonM Posted March 24, 2013 Report Posted March 24, 2013 Checked mine last night, and it has stock white/silver around the gauges. Perhaps yours had been sanded off previously? Quote
glenpos Posted March 24, 2013 Author Report Posted March 24, 2013 yeah i the left one on mine was a little bit grey, not too sure, thinking about doing the border around the outside... Quote
