drkbrth Posted January 1, 2012 Report Posted January 1, 2012 So I've been waiting to find a good opportunity to pick up my first project. Wondering what everyone else thinks, is it good for $250? Link to car Quote
Jono.C Posted January 1, 2012 Report Posted January 1, 2012 It looks alright. But you'd really have to go look at it and drive it (if possible) and see what it's like. To be honest $250 is unlikely, seems as though it's only been on ebay for a few hours. Could sell for 250 or 1200.. never know. "Will need some work done to it in order to get roadworthy, the car would also be great for spare parts or converting to a drift car." Depends what that entails, if it's leaking oil like no tomorrow, all bushes worn out, shocks etc, it'll end up being big bucks very quick Quote
tojo2 Posted January 1, 2012 Report Posted January 1, 2012 (edited) Theres always way more rust to be found when you start digging. I woulnt bid on a car with clear signs of rust without a thorough inspection, unless it was for parts Wouldnt be too worried about mechanical /electrical stuff. Most is easily fixable on these cars Id ask about the gearbox tho as many 5speed boxes seem to be noisy / worn Edited January 1, 2012 by tojo2 Quote
Ben-89 Posted January 1, 2012 Report Posted January 1, 2012 There will be a few ke70s popping up for sale, so keep your options open :) Go and check it out first. What appeals is its an honest car in the sence it hasnt been cleaned up for the sale and "what you see is what you get" It appears to have been repaired possibly early in its life so the problems are coming back. I can just see behind the rear bar the beaver panel along the seam is rusting along with the more obvious spots pictured. You'd need to strip those areas or even better the rear end to see extent of the damage. But if the pictures are anything to go by it looks quite serious and fixing it properly so there isnt a repeat of this will cost $$. The cheaper the car usually ends up being the more expensive. ke70dave Posted January 1, 2012 Report Posted January 1, 2012 (edited) Save your cash and buy a rego'd not so rusty runner.... I bought a junker as a project car for 400bucks, masses of work and a lot of cash (+~700) to get rwc. Should have just spent 1100 on a rego'd one and then done mods from there... It sounds great buying a project car but its only a ke70 corolla they are all the same, so at least buy the best base you can afford. Edit- just had another look....not as bad as I thought. Might be alright. Edited January 1, 2012 by ke70dave Quote
