cianw94 Posted December 29, 2011 Report Posted December 29, 2011 Not a Corolla I know but thought some might be interested. Copied and pasted from another site. Bought this yoke near two years ago. Was a standard 1 liter 4 speed. Been working on it since, AE86 brakes, coilovers, extra lock powersteering knuckles, NCRCAs, rear gaz coilovers, underneath fully repainted, all new brake lines, seals, pads/shoes, etc. Fully pollybushed. Basically every type of serviceable part replaced, track rods, TCAs etc. Rebuilt a 1.3 4k about a year ago, fitted a TRD 2 way LSD redid the bottom end then, went again, fitted a 4age on bike carbs. Will just let pictures do the talking. Quote

cianw94 Posted December 29, 2011 Author Report Posted December 29, 2011 (edited) Strut brace painted and polished, Right, next up was the head. Replacing valve stem oil seals. Forgot to grind in the new valves after building up the head so had to rip the head apart. Taking the stem seals back off then. That cut their seal. So off with the head to replace them as my valve spring compressor won't allow me do it with it in place. Stem seals, Edited December 29, 2011 by cianw94 Quote
cianw94 Posted December 29, 2011 Author Report Posted December 29, 2011 Lock with extra lock spacer removed and T3 knuckles fitted. :D New set of CBR bike carbs got, coilovers and T3 knuckles arrived. Few more bits due any day too. All done and set for road trip. Omex rev limiter fitted and wired too. Quote
cianw94 Posted December 29, 2011 Author Report Posted December 29, 2011 Wiring time. Some of what was removed. Put my ign and dash lamp wire in here as it was right by where the alternator will be. It is a switched live that used run the idle switch on the carb and I think/hope is also the dash light wire. Here you can see the wire I am on about. 12v switched. Came out from the voltage reg before and the idle switch wiring is spliced in as shown. Think this is the dash light wire? Jdm86gtv please confirm! :P Coil repositioned. Alternator wiring 5kgs of reviness thanks to Seamie! And made this during lunch in school. Now fits 4k dizzy in the 4age. Quote
cianw94 Posted December 29, 2011 Author Report Posted December 29, 2011 Carbs cleaned up and trumpets polished, Flexi welded in, 165 main jets for the carbs, Big thanks to KevStarlet for the clutch disk, rare item. Ho boy, YES! More stuff!! Yes, got some light surrounds and new side lights!! Now they look so well I need new bumpers and grill to match! Finally got EFI rev clocks. Been wanting a set for ages. Thanks very much to Toyscrota for all the bits! Engine bay as it will be, feck all wiring and clutter really. Still a few bits to do, bottom rad hose, weld a flange on the exhaust, throttle and choke cables. Starts anyway with a little persuasion and petrol. Pulled dash a part, swapped odometers on the clocks and fitted them. Quote
cianw94 Posted December 29, 2011 Author Report Posted December 29, 2011 And how it stands now, broken camshaft and a ʞ©$ɟed head, Quote
cianw94 Posted December 29, 2011 Author Report Posted December 29, 2011 Ready for primer in the morning. Repositioned the rad mounts for the AE86 rad too. Quote
cianw94 Posted December 29, 2011 Author Report Posted December 29, 2011 Little spray booth. ha Will put a front and some form of a roof on it next weekend for final paint. Quote
cianw94 Posted December 29, 2011 Author Report Posted December 29, 2011 Finished with primer, letting it sink for a few days. Finally did something with this after six weeks of being too pissed off to look at it! Got a few bits, coolant hoses off Flo, TRD 0.8mm steel headgasket, some fuel resistant hose for carbs to manifold attatchment. Had issues with the standard ones allowing the carbs to fall off on full whack! Made up new brake lines and fittings for all around the bay, underneath, axle etc. Painted up brake servo, lacquered the master cyl. and a few other bits. All nice and shiny. Bought more primer for the car today too. Hope to have all priming done ready for paint after Christmas. Also started cleaning up the inlet manifold. I took the ah feck it, it's grand approach but want it right. Filled little holes and bought it back down smooth. Hope to pick a head up too and will port it over the holidays. Quote
cianw94 Posted December 29, 2011 Author Report Posted December 29, 2011 Had a few hours for bodywork today. Front valance was a little twisted and dented. Bit of straightening and filler etc. Previous holes for splitter welded up. Little bit of rust! Other than that a good healthy wing. Patch welded in. Ground down. Sanded down, fairly straight. Not looking forward to the other side soaked in waxoyl!! Quote
cianw94 Posted December 29, 2011 Author Report Posted December 29, 2011 Got a little bit of time at this tonight. Another little patch in. Only have 2 maybe 3 more to do on the whole car. All pictures working again. Keyed down the engine bay and gave it another coat of primer. i'll leave it for a few more days to sink and then will spray the crossmember, underneath the chassis legs, outer side of the inner wings and the front head light panel then the weekend maybe. ill leave the main bay to the man who's painting the car. Want the bits that get seen to be as shiny as they can be. Once i have this done i can have it rolling again, put wings on then prep the out car for paint. No pictures of primer yet! All dents on the wings are now popped out too and just a light skim of filler to smooth it off. Again forgot after pictures! Will get some later. Before anyway. Rust! Gone Quote
