Quote
5ksev Posted December 20, 2011 Author Report Posted December 20, 2011 Close to the specs of it. the lift is far smaller though? or am i just reading it wrong? also do they not gring to the specs, just to an " approx " ? Quote
Trev Posted December 20, 2011 Report Posted December 20, 2011 the lift is far smaller though? or am i just reading it wrong? also do they not gring to the specs, just to an " approx " ? If you look on the charts they state 'advertised' what they advertise and what you may get will be different. Quote
5ksev Posted December 20, 2011 Author Report Posted December 20, 2011 If you look on the charts they state 'advertised' what they advertise and what you may get will be different. hmm fair enough, i was just under the impression i would get it done to the exact mentioned specs.. but yeah. Quote
5ksev Posted December 20, 2011 Author Report Posted December 20, 2011 and also, so really.. it dosnt run .423 lift like they say.. so there was really no point in upgrading to hd springs like they say Quote
SLO-030 Posted December 20, 2011 Report Posted December 20, 2011 (edited) Thats your lift @ lobe Multiply 0.294" by 1.5 which is your rocker ratio. That will give you lift @ valve EDIT. 0.294" x 1.5 = 0.441" lift @ the valve. Edited December 20, 2011 by SLO-030 Quote
Evan G Posted December 20, 2011 Report Posted December 20, 2011 and ive always used duration @ 50 thou not advertised duration Quote
5ksev Posted December 20, 2011 Author Report Posted December 20, 2011 I don't really understand much about cams.. I just know what I wanted, haha. I'll talk to a mate tomorrow ( mechanic ) and have him explain it all to me.. Thanks guys Quote
Evan G Posted December 20, 2011 Report Posted December 20, 2011 268 duration @ 50thou. mild/wild cam ask tighe if the cam has any advance/retard on it. if it does it will need to be dialed in Quote
SLO-030 Posted December 20, 2011 Report Posted December 20, 2011 K engines should have their valve springs replaced with heavier duty springs over .420" of valve lift. The lift quoted on the card, is how much lift the cam lobe has on it. You multiply that by the ratio of the rocker. Which is the amount the rocker increases the lift that the cam lobe has on it. K engines have a 1:1.5 rocker ratio. Meaning for every .001" of lobe lift. The rocker produces .0015" of valve lift. This cam will give you .441" of valve lift. Which is lucky you replaced your valve springs. Quote
Mitch-12 Posted December 20, 2011 Report Posted December 20, 2011 K engines have a 1:1.5 rocker ratio. Meaning for every .001" of lobe lift. The rocker produces .0015" of valve lift. are you sure? sounds like that would be 15:1 lol? although 441thou lift at the valve is correcto Quote
SLO-030 Posted December 20, 2011 Report Posted December 20, 2011 Check the decimal point Mitch  Quote
