hey all!

my names dan and I'm 17, living on the Gold Coast.

I got this ke70 from brisbane about 2 weeks ago.. and plan to do a bit to it.. so i thought i would do a build thread

first off, its a 1983 model ke70 with a 5k & 5 speed conversion

  •
  • Gt shocks
  • weber carby
  • extractors
  • 2 1/4" exhaust

first off, driving it home from brisbane the throttle return spring snapped, so i put a zip tie to hold it in place till i got home

also, on the drive home.. no matter how loud i turned the radio, i just couldnt hear it so i went out and got some new 6x9 speakers also

over the past couple days iv pulled the head off, and taken the cam out. i plan to shave & port the head, with new HD valve springs

and the cam i plan to regrind.. i had 25-65 270dur in mind. highway and street driving will be 50/50 but will this cam be to big for street driving, although its a 5k not 4?

and also, i broke one of my lifters trying to pull it out with plyers ( hydro ) i know there's a big debate.. but should i just replace it.. or keep the head off for longer and replace it with a solid conversion?

some wheels i tried on :P

Corolla's and zip ties go hand in hand.

Hopefully when you get it going and on the road you make it to the next cruise or to All Japanese Day. :y:

Is it a straight through exhaust?

yeah they have crazy strech, so they fit perfectly in the guards.. but I'm going to pump my guards more.. just to cover a little more tyre..

and yeah, the plan is white paint, then black interior that way at night, all you see is the white ke :P

Ahh mine was similar but had a hotdog in the middle. No wonder you can't hear your stereo.

And AJD is late Jan early Feb so about the time you're on the road.

And bro with P plates you will get butt raped with those wheels by the Popo. Looks cool though.

had a mate over today, and spent an hour or so stripping the interior, getting it ready for new carpet, and new bucket seats

LOLWHAT?

i paid $50 to get my head shaved to 10:1

and $90 for 270 duration cam and $90 for double valve springs

$210 is ʞ©$ɟing expensive for a cam regrind!

What about the cam grind?

Changes the timing of the valves opening and how far they open to give more power higher up the rev range.

5Ksev- I paid $170 for a cam grind AND the lifter re-grinding at Crow, so you are paying a lot.

Also, decide if you're using hydraulics or solids before you get a cam grind as they are different grinds. Whichever you get you should get the lifters reground to wear in with the new cam profile.
