Xamph Posted December 21, 2005 Report Posted December 21, 2005 G'day all. My name's Josh and i'm from Vic. Hopefully in the next week or two i'll be gettin my dirty mitts on a 1980 KE55 Coupe. Absolutely STOCK. First mod i'm planning (if i succeed in obtaining the car) is to get a new zorst n schitt. I was thinking extractors (of course) then 2" system with a nice dumper tailpipe. Does anyone here think i should go bigger? (obviously i wont be going smaller) I don't wanna go to big for the blatent reason of losing back pressure. Any suggestions? Thanks heaps, Josh Quote
Redwarf Posted December 21, 2005 Report Posted December 21, 2005 2" is fine on a 4K. You wouldn't want any bigger. Quote
Super Jamie Posted December 21, 2005 Report Posted December 21, 2005 cool dude, everyone loves pics :hammer: welcome aboard ss rollaclub, toot toot! have a read of our faq, heaps of specific info and general guides in there :y: Quote
Rolla__Boy Posted December 22, 2005 Report Posted December 22, 2005 :hammer: ss rollaclub...GOLD Quote
Tiger Posted December 22, 2005 Report Posted December 22, 2005 1.75" is perfect IMO, 2" ain't any better... just louder I guess ;) Redback/Genie/Pacemaker headers are fine extractors. I used to own a set of Genie Terminator Headers and a 2" exhaust, single muffler, and hotdog... I was heard from a LOOOONG way away.. and I gained a little more power (not too great obviously but hey, it's a K-series.. not a Gen 3 5.7 litre) :P Hope this is a good little guide for ya :y: And welcome, Vic boy :hammer: Quote
Rolla__Boy Posted December 22, 2005 Report Posted December 22, 2005 One time I had my gearbox cross member bolt snap, and drag my exhaust on the ground, and ruin it. So I had no money at the time, so I got a standard exhaust welded to my extractors until I could affors a new system, and the day I took it in to get the new exhaust, I drove it in standard, and home with the new exhaust, and I could not believe the HUGE difference it made, it felt like it doubled the hp, it was crazy. Tiger Posted December 22, 2005 Report Posted December 22, 2005 Yeah, makes a difference, if you drive it daily.. you notice little things like that, so you'll think WOW!! It MOVES and BREATHES now! hahaha Quote
SLOTH Snr Posted December 26, 2005 Report Posted December 26, 2005 We run extractors with a 2" sports system on a 4k. I certainly wouldn't go any bigger. Welcome aboard another vic member and a KE55 to boot :S Quote
boofis Posted December 26, 2005 Report Posted December 26, 2005 (edited) Just out of curiousity, what has everyone found to be a good muffler that doesn't have too much restriction but doesn't deafen you and sound like a fart? Edited December 26, 2005 by boofis Quote
Tiger Posted December 26, 2005 Report Posted December 26, 2005 Cannon Muffler! :S hahahaha Nah, I haven't had any dramas with the Genie Range.... I swear by that stuff. Quote
kangaroosa Posted December 26, 2005 Report Posted December 26, 2005 (edited) I have a "Redback" resonator on my KE30. I've had a few different mufflers in the past, but the Redback is the Deepest and most Rumbly. My first exhaust had lukey? mufflers and it sounded crap. It was a cross between a celica and the crazy frog..........a ring ding ding. My exhaust is 2" too. Edited December 26, 2005 by kangaroosa Quote
Tiger Posted December 26, 2005 Report Posted December 26, 2005 I'll agree with Kanga on the Redback... deep and rumbly alright! Actually... a good person to ask about their exhaust also... Coln72.. I LOVE the sound of his car! Quote

I'll probably go with 1.75", i don't want anything too loud myself. been there done that! Dyzza Quote
