carbonboy Posted April 27, 2013 Report Posted April 27, 2013 It's only when seeing photos like that (cool by the way) that people can appreciate just how little room there is in there, the shot of the wheel-brace highlights that. I wasn't sure on the beige car/white wheels, but bugger me if it doesn't work & look good! Quote
ke70dave Posted April 29, 2013 Report Posted April 29, 2013 pretty cool. so washing the wheels every 2 days to keep it like that?:P Quote
B.L.Z.BUB Posted April 29, 2013 Author Report Posted April 29, 2013 Yeah, it hardly gets driven so she'll be right. Quote
orangeLJ Posted May 1, 2013 Report Posted May 1, 2013 Glad you got rid of the PVC pipe :) Just from previous experience with a track car (not mine) that had brake ducts made from PVC, the stuff is actually highly flammable, never would hav thought it would go up as quick as it does, scary stuff. The standard cotton lined or generic paper filters that most commodores end up with are terrible. You can generally see the fins distorting (they get "wavy" and seperated from the resistance) after a good flogging. Quote
B.L.Z.BUB Posted May 2, 2013 Author Report Posted May 2, 2013 Yeah the PVC pipe was purely temporary while I waited for the silicone one. And I made sure first thing I got was a K&N filter :y: I'm so glad I didnt sell this now. So much fun to drive. Now that it runs and handles properly I suppose I should make it go faster. Quote
B.L.Z.BUB Posted May 11, 2013 Author Report Posted May 11, 2013 Got up at 5am to go to work, it was squeaking pretty bad from the alternator belt, but went away after a few hundred meters. Started losing power after a while but managed to get it to work. Missing alternator belt and loose crank shaft pulley. Man, that could have ended badly, lucky a new belt and a tighten was all it needed. I'll locktite the pulley nut on Monday at work I think. Quote
nerfbat Posted May 11, 2013 Report Posted May 11, 2013 very lucky you found it before it got messy mate not counting this tho, how has it been running? i have read ya thread of course, but hows it feel to you? Quote
B.L.Z.BUB Posted May 11, 2013 Author Report Posted May 11, 2013 Its been really good. I think the battery is on its way out as its hard to start overnight but will pop straight away after a drive. Still havent wired the TPS or dizzy properly yet, doubt it'll change much. Suspension set up is pretty good, since I have put the MA's on I have had a few lock ups and rear end looseies so I may go back to my 15's and see if I can get another set of KU31 kumhos. I love the MA's but I also love grip. The repaired pedal box is holding up, it squeaks but I'm sure its the pivot not anything major. Needs some grease. The new thrust bearing has been sweet, only issue is changing down to 2nd. I'm guessing that is the short shifter on a box that ran with basically no clutch for ages, I want to go back to a stock shifter anyway. Quote

Before going too far with that idea, check the keyway on the crank. Once that pulley starts swinging around, good chance it'll be rooted. Best of luck. Quote
B.L.Z.BUB Posted May 12, 2013 Author Report Posted May 12, 2013 It wasnt that loose, one of the first things I checked :y: Quote
towe001 Posted May 12, 2013 Report Posted May 12, 2013 Lucky. When it happened to me, the cheapest thing i could do was toss the crank over my shoulder and use another one. I was talking to a guy (Big Daddy, Big Boy, Biggy or something along that line), he lived and breathed 4age's, on the old Toymods forum not long after and was telling me that one of the weak links in the 4a is the keyway.
