So I decided its time to deal with my pedal box, gear box issues. Pulled the pedal box out so I can weld it back together. Glad I kept the bit that snapped off :y:

My dodgy temporary fix :lolcry: well it worked for about a year!

And everything out

And here is a video of what I'm dealing with with the clutch fork. It worked fine for about 5 minutes after i 'fixed it' last time then it felt like something popped out of place and I went back to half pedal throw. Pretty annoying. You can also see how close it is to the exhaust flange.

Will drop the box next and try and sort this fork issue, and put the open center in I got.

And where would that piece be? Fcuk knows. It was sitting in the same place for about 9 months and now is not there.

Edit: this is what I'm dealing with, does anyone have an AE71 pedal box they could take some good pics of the clutch master mount for me? Mostly interested in the tube bolt thing. Pretty sure I can rangi something up that'll work fine.

Nah. the firewall flexes too much.

What i really need to know is the distance between the rear of the pedal box mount to the face of the master cylinder, there is a built in spacer on the rear.

Once i know that ill reweld a stronger plate on. I reckon the previous guy bolted the master on but didnt put a spacer on the other bolt which caused it to twist over time snapping the mount point off.

At least thats how it looks.

  • 2 weeks later...

Dropped the box to install the throwout bearing clips, found out the bearing thing is wrong (why am I not surprised?) So I need to source the proper bearing carrier.

Started fixing the pedal box.

Drew up a few templates

Cut it out, not quite right.

Trimmed, fits perfect

Template transferred to steel.

Will bolt it in there once I have drilled out the mounting holes at work.

The two most hated parts of my car ATM, you can see where i trimmed the old clutch master mount off (or what was left of it.

Epic shed session today.

New thrust bearing and carrier in with new fork clips and a new boot.

Reverse lights hooked up.

Gearbox installed.

Pedal box repaired and installed.

Steering column put back, all dodgy loose wires hidden.

Locked center out, open center in.

So mechanically it should be all good to go.
