B.L.Z.BUB Posted December 28, 2012 Author Report Posted December 28, 2012 Good call, I'll pull mine out and compare tomorrow. He's about 2 minutes from my shed. Ill pull his out and make sure they are the same internally. I just saw the AFM and the different plug cover and instantly thought smallport. Quote
towe001 Posted December 28, 2012 Report Posted December 28, 2012 That top one makes me think its an old "blacktop" There shouldn't much difference between the two. The only possible difference would be the connectors like AUDM said. Quote
B.L.Z.BUB Posted December 28, 2012 Author Report Posted December 28, 2012 I'm pretty sure mine is a 7 rib TVIS bigport with the TVIS blocked off. Though it has a AW11 timing spike and crank pulley. I have NFI, I just want it to work. Quote
Trev Posted December 28, 2012 Report Posted December 28, 2012 Top one is a series 3 AE82 red and black top (same dizzy as the bluetop). Bottom one is a smallport and has a 4 wire dizzy as opposed to the bigport 3 wire. I thought you hooked up the start wire a while ago. TPS adjustment will make it run dead like it is, you tried it with it unplugged? Unless you have a hairy dizzy or a damaged dizzy wire then there is nothing really else with them that can fail, if you were closer you could borrow one of mine. Quote

Start wire was hooked up but it seems to create the bogging down issue so I unplugged it, but plugged in it makes it start properly without issue. Tried unplugging the TPS and it'd run but not well. I ʞ©$ɟed with the dizzy (my bad), adjusted some gaps. The dizzy I'm looking at grabbing is a yellow plug 3 wire (I think) Edited December 28, 2012 by B.L.Z.BUB Quote
B.L.Z.BUB Posted January 8, 2013 Author Report Posted January 8, 2013 Its for sale, yes. Whether it sells is another matter. Until then I will keep working on it. Or get annoyed with dreamers and tyre kickers and keep it. Quote
B.L.Z.BUB Posted January 12, 2013 Author Report Posted January 12, 2013 SIgh, more dodgy shit from the previous owner. Distributor wiring. Got the TPS wired up too. Different plugs just to annoy me Battery was flat so I couldn't try start it so I fiddled with George and threw the boot lid on. Quote

B.L.Z.BUB Posted January 20, 2013 Author Report Posted January 20, 2013 Soooooo, look who made it out of the shed today. It now starts and is capable of being timed correctly. Need to adjust the TPS correctly (did a quick job).Still has oodles more power than before. Its hunting at idle bit that's the least of my problems after all the other drama. Did a diagnostic and all I'm getting is speed sensor. Pity I lose my licence Tuesday. When I find a new passenger guard I'll probably do a quick budget paint job like Cop Bait to match all the panels. Paint the MA's and throw some rubber on them, and its done. Quote
B.L.Z.BUB Posted February 5, 2013 Author Report Posted February 5, 2013 I could sit there just starting it all day... http://youtu.be/BW3rn_gOXCQ Quote
