So i put the old plugs and leads back in but the problem still persisted.

Remembered I had lowered the idle with the idle screw so I screwed that back in.

That seemed to make the stuttering go away but obviously also meant it wouldnt idle.

So i messed with the throttle screw and its now idling high but at least its running.

Doing my head in.

I don't want to take it to a mechanic because then I wont learn anything.

MMM KE20 goodness. Jono.C's cars are making me seriously consider hunting a '10 when the 70's finished.

Ok so on the way to work it was playing up still, i took some tools with me luckily.

I noticed that at low revs the voltage was dropping significantly from 14 to just under 13 (voltmeter is connected straight to the alternator). Tightened the alternator belt as much as possible and that seemed to put the volts back up. So it seems that at low revs or when cruising I was suffering a pretty major voltage drop. Couple this with the hard to crank/start and I'm leaning towards a ʞ©$ɟed battery. I checked the battery water and it seems low. So Ill get it checked.

I'm also getting a really bad unburnt fuel smell, plus the new plugs are really sooty. So I think the Y plugs arent working right so Ill grab some P's today.

I feel at least I'm getting somewhere though.

Needs to be fixed by tomorrow or no drive in for me :(

13 is still above 12 though, which is enough to run the car.

i reckon you have got a bung sensor somewhere if its running rich. really need to try and clear those diagnostic codes.
