Jono.C Posted September 21, 2012 Report Posted September 21, 2012 How do those bearing top hats seem? Been considering a set for a while Quote
B.L.Z.BUB Posted September 21, 2012 Author Report Posted September 21, 2012 Seem good. Tight fit. Rian has been using them without issue. Quote
Jono.C Posted September 21, 2012 Report Posted September 21, 2012 Are they squared out underneath to lock onto the shock? Quote
rian Posted September 21, 2012 Report Posted September 21, 2012 (edited) ^They don't come into contact with the damper at all, the centre hole in the upper spring seat/top hat is much larger than the diameter of the damper rod. So they are free to rotate as the spring compresses, and they transfer all the force from the spring onto the camber plate and not the camber plate bearing. Edited September 21, 2012 by rian Quote

19914afc Posted September 21, 2012 Report Posted September 21, 2012 I put them in mine too, couldn't get cambertops for T18 as different to 86 and ke70. I have a shitjob as well just not the mortgage, haha. Hopefully once I get a better job and save enough I will but probably not for a while though. Quote

B.L.Z.BUB Posted September 23, 2012 Author Report Posted September 23, 2012 (edited) The guy who owned Peanut before me kinda hacked the dash to bits and painted everything black. It really did look terrible. The steering column was cracked and shit. Managed to get a bunch of interior pieces. This is how it looked. Old and new. Silver parts added you can see the shitty spray canned bits on the floor. Plus the brown ashtray added. Hmmm, ciggie lighter long gone and no choke = big gaping holes. Fake choke cable knob with some lekky wire to wedge it in and an oil pressure gauge I had laying around that fit in the hole perfect (not wired up, looks better than a hole though). Plus the new dash surround in. I'm remounting the HU in the lower console so used the factory cover plate and some double sided tape to cover the factory stereo hole. The flash makes it look weird but in normal light it looks pretty good. And how it looks with the new twinky wheel. ( awwwww yeah) Pretty happy so much nicer to look at. Also got new armrest inserts and door handle plastics but they are a lighter brown, better than shitty flaky spray painted ones though. Swapped the smoked face temp gauge for a white faced one also as the smoked one is impossible to read during the day. Edited September 23, 2012 by B.L.Z.BUB Quote
